In this paragraph you try to claim you have not drawn any connection to a school being given the title "university of__" and being "compedative and or flagship". Then in the very next sentence you say.

No, I was pointing out a correlation between the traditional branding of University of [state] institutions and competitive flagship status.

You are talking nonsense. Still are.

U of L system is a mess

Ashame we couldn't pull la tech. We probably would rape their budget though.

ULL back tracked on a deal is my basic compliant about the deal. ULM was stupid to change names, but I always understood ULM had to agree for ULL to change?

True or false Bobby Jindal was involved in name change?

IIRC, one of the other schools had to agree, and ULM was the only one to step up.

i know it's a decent school with some pretty good programs, but it has nothing resembling a "college experience". you would think they could figure out how to change that a bit to help bring in some better students, especially considering it's in the city (well, sort of).

If UNO wasn't such a depressing commuter school, I would have strongly considered going there. It's just so... bleh.
yeah, I spent a couple semesters there and while there were a handful of really good students from the area that stayed home to go to uno, and a good handful of good students that moved down here for school mainly because of the city, it seems like the 'commuter' moniker rubbed off on them quickly and they all just decided treat campus as just a place where they would spend the minimal amount of time going to class and then right back out. Many of the students lived in uptown or atlesrt mid city and very few In lake view/gentilly or even less on campus.... I will say they really did a good job with the rec center back when I went. And I would go to a few baseball games (esp the LSU game) and they could be fun and this was even before Blake was named skipper.

Speaking of i need to go by the bookstore on campus and grab me a white 'UNO' game brand bar style cap.... it's the only college I know that doesn't license them out to places like lids. You can literally get every single college bar style hats at the hat stores in the mall but you will never find a plane UNO one. That's why I love them. Lost mine a couple years ago but I've never seen anyone else ever with one.... I'm a hipster when it comes to hats.

Got my old school original green with navy bill Z's minor league fitted cap from the the team shop at the shrine on airline, I had to go in the back with th workers and find my size. This was about 5 years ago when they were changing up their logo and colors. Now they are completely done with the Z's and now'Baby Cakes'

Damn I'm off the rails in this thread

My bad

I need to get to sleep

Yep and as fun as it is to bag on ULM they had a little pride as NLU. A good pharmacy school as well. They seemed to lose identity with ULM change. Especially when ULL started representing they were a satellite campus. If they had any balls they would play the same ULL tricks

As annoying as Tech pride is at least they keep with their branding and identity. I need to get a new tech hat.

Never went to MS State. I just have that as my fav team, although it is my '2nd' SEC team or only other SEC team I actually pull for other than LSU or when they aren't playing LSU.

My brother got his engineering degree from up there so I have spent some time there. And I've got a few other extended family that went there.

Gotcha.

I have always considered Mississippi State as "on par" with Ole Miss academically despite being younger and smaller. Each has their own core competencies.

For athletics, I have never developed a hatred of Mississippi State like I have of Ole Miss.

That the University of moniker goes to the most competitive school in the system traditionally. Even if the the UL system were like that, ULL would not be that school.

This makes no god damn sense.

I tried telling him this last night. Then he'd say that's not what he was saying. Then he'd say exactly that in the very next sentence. I finally figured he was either touched in the head or stoned and I just gave up and went to sleep.

The biggest anti "UL" folk tend to be oil field roustabout types like diat who wear LSU gear from Wal mart or ULM/Tech folks. Most IRL LSU folk don't care.

Gotta love the OT. We supposedly don't give a shite about a fellow in-state school so much that we will bring their name up randomly for no reason.
