lot of those sovereign nations had territory that had belonged to Germany before WWI. The average German soldier looked at it as getting their territory back and avenging WWI.
However, Poland as an example, had lands taken from them long before “before WWI”. At one time Poland was the largest country in Europe, and went without a country at all for 100 years before regaining only a small part of their previous lands.

The average German soldier knew about some Third Reich policies (at least) that we now abhor.
It would be unfair to say that a “common WWII soldier” had an idea of the length & breadth of all of the German wartime atrocities.
So the answer would be that any Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, or Kriegsmarine conscript knew something bad was up.
Not necessarily the “Final Solution”, but they knew something was up.

Carrollton, the avg German soldier had no idea about life under communism in soviet union nor what it was like for serfs before the revolution.
You are projecting your American ignorance. Europe had decades of experience with Communism and world revolution before WWII. If there was such ignorance in Europe why were there so many foreign volunteers in the Waffen SS.
Hint: Hatred of Communism

I would imagine there's no simple answer for those question. I don't see the vast majority of German soldiers in WW2 as evil. I see them as dudes fighting for the glory of their home country and later on for the defense of their loved ones back home.
Many of the German soldiers were probably pissed at the other European nations for taking a shite on them after WW1 and didn't mind invading other countries if it meant more prosperity for Germany.
That's the whole reason Hitler rose to power the way he did really.
Did the soldiers hate Jews? I'm sure some of them probably viewed them as scapegoats because that was the propaganda in those days but I doubt all of them knew they were being gassed in concentration camps or supported the idea.

The ruskies I’ll forgive. They were simply giving retribution for the way the Germans treated their civies and pows when they first pushed Eastword.
The Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, Finns, and Romanians are wondering why they were brutalized, imprisoned, and murdered by NKVD forces then if Soviet barbarity was merely retaliatory...

Well the Finn's kicked Soviet arse in asymmetrical warfare so that was just retribution in kind.
Poland and Russia hate each other and will always slug it out when given the chance.
The others were briefly Nazi clients and used the opportunity to to settle grudges with communist factions before they realized the Nazis were same as the old boss.
Hitler's greatest mistake was going into western Soviet territory and not keeping up the illusion of a liberator before cracking down. Bur Soviets still treated the people as if they were all collaborators with Nazis on their old school feed off the country as they marched to Berlin.

They had to know something, they were invading neighboring countries.
As were the Russians, which makes you wonder why Germany received all the blame for their invasion of Poland, but the Russians who carved the country in two with the Germans received none. Neither did they receive any condemnation for their invasion of Finland.

I'm referring to the Soviet Union's invasion and occupation of these countries prior to Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union, not after. The Soviets weren't arresting and murdering Nazi collaborators or people they incorrectly labeled collaborators in 1939-1940. These were independent, sovereign states at this time that the USSR invaded without provocation or cause. This is why those populations were supportive of Germany's invasion of the USSR, because they had been victimized by them. They were rounding up and murdering potential political enemies to the Communist worldview after swallowing them into the Communist state. Ironically enough, the Russian and Ukrainian people themselves were the biggest victims of this terror state.
