It was a thing 55 years ago. Ever watched the movie "Dressed to Kill"? Michael Caine was a tranny in 1980 for it. "Lola" song by the Kinks in 1970 was about a tranny.

Nah. Hippies were just normal cultural ebb and flow of a society. You forget Reagan Revolution which put the Hippie Genie back in the bottle. Plus the 60s did have some positive outcomes. maybe some here want women and blacks to be second class citizens and not be able to pursue their dreams but I don't.
The real downfall of American society is the rise of SJWs and Woke... and it was only possible because of mass immigration.
Mass immigration brought in a whole new block of Democratic voters which gave the socio-Bolshevik class of race activists an opportunity to start waging war against the "evil white patriarchy". They told this new voting bloc that they had to vote Dem to protect them from evil white racists and most complied. Identity politics was born and this is why we are so divided today (Trumpism/Maga is just a response to identity politics).
And before you blame the left completely Republicans are just as responsible. The pre-Trump Republican party was little more than an advocacy group for business and money interests.... and business loves immigration for the cheaper labor and expanded customer base (and they don't have to pay for the additional expenses that an increased population brings because we refuse to raise taxes in this country and it's all paid for with increased borrowing).
