I would think that plenty of positions of the GOP would be attractive to racists, but are not racist. The aforementioned economic ideals, opposition or lack of allegiance to concepts favored by the left, like forced diversity, religious-like political correctness, affirmative action, etc. None of which are "racist" ideals by any intellectually honest standard.

So the Black Panther party is supportive of the GOP?
And without going into the whole "only white people can be racist argument", what if that was true. What if all racists happened to side with the GOP on issues. Their reasoning for siding with them is completely and totally not aligned with the reasoning for the party's platform, but they just happen to side with them. Does that make the party's platform invalid?
I truly believe in my conservative stances on the economy. I think it is better for all. I truly think I have the same goals in mind as most (at least moderate) Democrats. I just have a different view of how to get there. Some of the things I believe in such as being anti-affirmative action are going to pander to racists. I don't believe in it because I'm racist. I just personally don't think it achieves what it is intended to achieve and shortchanges not only the recipient, but anyone else affected. A racist just doesn't want that minority to have "his" job. We both end up being anti-affirmative action, but now I'm also a racist. Thanks democrat logic.

He sounded pretty dumb to me. Saying "well I kept hearing about Trayvon Martin so I went to Wikipedia to find out what it was" struck me as "I am really stupid." His ranting about minorities also seemed to me to be the combination of regurgitation of hate literature, fairly self-honest personal recollection, and poorly-drawn inferences.

We're working pretty hard to bring in minority voters without blatant pandering that detracts from our underlying ideology.
And no, our underlying ideology is not oppressing minorities. It involves promotion of personal responsibility, economic liberty (increasingly, social liberty) and reduced government interference.
But, feel free to abandon the quips and I'll be happy to discuss actual policy with you if you're game.
