I mean it is possible, but it's highly unlikely.

Exactly.

But all I've seen so far in what I've read of this thread is people thinking it's totally out of the question that something bad COULD have been going on.

bullshite. Our economy will crumble if ONE wal-mart gets blown up.

It won't crumble, but I guarandamntee you that if something "terroristy" (the best I could do, haha) ever did happen in a WM, that it would affect the shopping habits of tons of people.

Hell, I can remember a lot of people freaking out when the rumors of planned mall attacks were going around shortly after 9/11. I know I, for one, didn't wanna head to the mall, and I used to always worry about my girlfriend who worked there.

I don't think so and the mall is a bad example versus a wal-mart. You don't NEED what a mall sells but you do NEED stuff Wal-mart sells.

not a bad thing, but you love to argue on the side of unlikely just to force people to recognize that .001 percent chance of possibility don't you?

an attack on a market regardless of size would have signigifigant damage in the short term to the economy

malls would have to hire additional armed security adding to the cost of consumer goods

fear,, the market would take hits as investors specualted

its not about reality its about perception

Very short if only ONE Wal-Mart goes and I still say it is a small dip not as bad as GL says it would be. People still have to buy goods that WM carries and they weill get it there or somewhere else. It doesn't matter to them

You "need" the stuff WM sells?

Do you?

You can get it lots of other places.

And I guess we just agree to disagree there. I think that if something were to happen at a place like WM, it would make people more than hesitant to go there. I would almost guarantee you that WM's sales would suffer (perhaps not drastically, but a good bit).

Hell, didn't Ryder's sales dropped after the trucks were used in terrorist bombings?
