Based on whatever we say it’s based on. Can you not enjoy college football today because someone once arbitrarily determined that teams have four downs to get ten yards and there were no football gods involved in the decision?

How about not threatening people online? And stalking them? You gonna do that anymore?

I was raised a Christian like nearly everyone in the Bible Belt.
And unlike most Christians I have read the Bible. I have also been to where Jesus was supposedly born, baptized, ate the last supper, crucified, entombed, and ascended. I have been to many Asian countries that are predominantly Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist.
Rest assured. I have done my due diligence on the subject.

Yet you’re all over this thread throwing out the same old bland and generic talking points less intelligent atheists always throw out.

but you don’t really need religion to do it.
You’re just gonna have to get over it. Trust me, you’ve never changed anyone’s mind on this. I know from your posting history, fact.

Oh yes.
Changing someone’s mind on religion on a message board happens all the time.

Not sure if its a coincidence for me but I hit rock bottom in my life from 2020 to mid 2022 with drinking, pills and going through a really bad divorce, got sober in April 2022 and still after that life was rough. Dealt with a lot of anger and was still depressed, life was still rough for me, then last September after a hospital stay and having fricked up dreams I decided to go back to religion. I tried several churches but ultimately went back to the Catholic Church since I grew up in it and went to Catholic school my whole life up until college. Since going back my life has gotten better by leaps and bounds. Its kinda crazy for me to say this but things have never been better for me right now,yea there are still bad days but overall I love life right now. Not sure if its a coincidence or not but I think going back to God and Jesus has a lot to do with it. Sorry for the Dear Facebook post and yea I know people are gonna rip me for a lot of this because of my past on here.
Find a good community and do an ayahuasca ceremony. I have some contacts if you want to come out to Cali to do it. I grew up Catholic and had some pretty bad experiences. Didn’t really find a community in any other Christian religions because most looked at me like an idol worshipper for my catholic past and some even told me I was going to hell because of it. Ayahuasca helped me foster a more personal relationship with God in a different kind of community.

I am personally not a believer
I urge you to give it a good faith effort.
Try reading the Gospel of John and follow up with Acts and a few Pauline letters. Romans, Galatians, Ephesians...
It adds so much to life.

Based on our collective experiences that can be altered at any time for the benefit of society.

How do we determine what benefits society? What is that rooted in?

Yes...I was in a terrible place in my life for a long time but through hard work, personal accountability, and above all listening to and trusting God, my life is absolutely awesome now. I am forever grateful for that.

again, if it works for you, great... do you... no one is stopping you, nor criticizing you for it... but i will say, the judgmental overly preachy talk that tries to come off as "caring", actually hurts your cause more than it helps...

i was... i was one of those "on fire for Christ" types... hard core, apologist, very involved, early service-SS-noon service-choir practice-DT-evening service-Wednesday service attendee... but as far as today, i'm good....

What makes an experience good or bad?
If it leads to people generally living better lives, I would say it’s good.
And considering how much better life is for most people in 2025 vs. 100 years ago or 1,000 years ago or 10,000 years ago, I think we’re moving in the right direction for the most part.
God hasn’t seen fit to destroy any cities or flood the entire planet like back in the day, so I guess it isn’t too bad.

It's a question that's most often asked and there are theologians that study the Bible for years that have different takes on it and I'm not a theologian but it's something I have studied thought about for years I'll take a shot at it
Time to God is different than what time demand is when the Bible says that God created the heaven and the earth in one week I don't think that that necessarily needs to be literal because not all the Bible is literal There are absolutely stories and parables that are not literal and then there are literal historical accounts a person should be able to tell the difference because of the writing style
So with that premise
Who's to say the very last second before we die that God doesn't extend it into a decade or 100 years in his ability as the creator took control time and in that time that on earth and to us seems like a split second There could be all the time in the world or even Hitler is given the opportunity to listen and still accept the truth before his soul leaves his body
And if that could happen for Hitler, it could happen for Gandhi or Abdullah
