100% illegal to have a bulletproof vest on a school campus in LA. Some idiot legislator threw that law on the books a couple of years back. Idiot. Which brings up question of kids with those bulletproof backpacks. I haven't seen anyone arrested yet but I am waiting.
ETA: Looked it up and they passed legislation last year exempting backpacks from the statute. LINK

you clearly have not attended any active shooter training.
The "fight" advice is a last resort should you be trapped with no safe exit. You grab a weapon of opportunity and fight like hell. Fire Extinguishers are great
