I know there’s obviously a law against littering. Does the law include the idiots who throw trash in the bed of their truck then hop on I-10 and it all blows out piece by piece? I see this entirely too much.

Pretty sure it is you are responsible for your load which should include anything in the bed.

If they really want to tackle this littering problem, they’ll crack down on these type of people. I bet just as much if not more trash ends up on the side of the interstate from this than idiots actually throwing it out.

I wish I drove a truck. It would be my beer trashcan since I live in a trailer park.

And its not drinking and driving since I live in my car. Its my home.

Yes. The problem is that like most laws in Louisiana that require more effort to enforce than they bring in in revenue, they don’t really enforce it.

The majority of trash in Louisiana doesn't come from the beds of pick up trucks.

There are some truck hating people on this board but this is stretching it.

It’s quite simple. If you see a company work truck that does it, that company gets a big fine from the state.

Yes. Failure to secure a load. Don't know the RS title, but that's the nature of the citation.

I don't hate trucks at all, but I see this quite often.

I report them (I know I will get stitches)

Dude you must not drive the interstates or major highways much. I love my truck it has nothing to do with trucks. It has to do with the DRIVERS of the trucks. I’m all for Cummins diesel rolling coal as long as they keep the trash in the cab not the bed.

Yes. Especially in New Orleans, the purpose of law is to raise money for the government, not for the protection of the public or any other noble purpose.

I drove 110 interstate miles every day for 7 years, and much of it through Livingston Parish, I don’t remember trash flying out of truck beds being so common that it was a majority of what was on the side of the road.

Now that I’m thinking about it, blown out tire fragments make up a lot of the debris on the roadway.

Try driving I-10 from LC to Lafayette and from Lafayette to Baton Rouge frequently. You’ll see what I mean. There’s a lot of that. I’m not making this up or exaggerating.

Please remember this applies to banana peels too. What that poor O’Doyle family went through was such a tragedy.
