I just can't imagine being so bad off with 2.4 billion dollars I'd want to kill myself.

You could give a shite that someone felt so much despair that the only way out was to take their life. That's basic human compassion, you don't have to know who they are.

My theory with this is always that you get trapped in a cycle of satisfying your issues with stuff. Once the "chase" for the stuff is gone, the excitement is gone, and you're just back to your underlying issues.
My guess is that if you won like a 300m lottery jackpot, your chances of not ruining your life are improved if during the first year or two you make only modest improvements to your life, pay off debt, etc. There is a great deal of joy that comes from not having to worry about something as big as money. But once you blow past that "achievement" and get right into buying lambos on day 1, you're setting yourself up for a pretty hard fall.
I'd give it a go, of course.
