Are you kidding? Out of all of their customers they selected a black couple and charged them more than the white people. This is blatant profiling and bigotry. We should all stand against that.
It is not a blemish on the restaurant. We have no reason to believe this isn't counter to the core values of the ownership. We should take them at their word.
I'm impressed with the conduct of the victims and the owner. And I'm proud that in New Orleans this was handled with class and dignity.

Maybe, but I wouldn't make that determination based on that post. Their demands seem pretty damn extreme. How noble to not request a refund for a meal they ate while also pressuring the restaurant to spend much more on training, menu updates, and donations to a charity they support. It's not like most people don't already know that targeting blacks people based on race is wrong, including obviously the owner who will likely fire the people who did this.
To some people, situations like this are just a nuisance and it pisses you off for an hour. To others, every situation is a societal emergency that requires immediate and punitive consequences to anyone in the vicinity of the situation.

There is an extremely common stereotype of black customers within the restaurant industry, and that is that black people do not tip well, if at all, and so I’m sure that is what fueled it being done by the employees in the first place, and since it was all black customers, I’d say it’s safe to say it was profiling.

They should have apologized, it was a dumb thing to do based on a negative racial stereotype. They compounded the dumb mistake by lying about it. How about the restaurant and server focus on providing the best food and service possible to the customers and what they get in tips is what they get.

It's Metairie. Despite being one of the only handful decent restaurants in metairie, it's still metairie.

You don’t think the white kid at the basketball camp gets labeled as less athletic than the black kids? Which is understandable because like 90% of the NBA is black.
Stuff like this happens every day. How do you think you are going to change human nature which through millions of years of evolution was trained to notice patterns?
We just don’t have enough real problems to worry about that this has become a “horrifying experience”.

White people, likely people like you, are certainly unnecessarily dramatic in many situations. Many black people are also pretty chill in most situations.
Your first thought was to divide people based on race here, kind of like what the waiter in this situation did. Maybe you should think on that for a while. You won't, and that is cool too. Most people just go through life hoping they don't have to encounter people like you or the waiter, and certainly don't waste time trying to change your kind.

How is that any different from the growing number of restaurants using the Apple technology that adds an 18% gratuity at check out unless you change it to something different ?
I had one place add a 22% tip at a restaurant that you order at a counter and fix your own drink ! Market Eatz in Lafayette ... never again.
