Derek Chauvin's defense....

I read an interesting topic on here today where someone pondered "what does he say in his defense"? I've thought of that too.
Mr. Floyd's family has hired their own autopsy investigator because they didn't like the state's report that indicated there were/or could of been several circumstances that led to his death.
So what does Chauvin say with all the recent video's and speculation that is out?
"I couldn't get him to cooperate in the back of the car so I put him on the ground?
He was a lot bigger and stronger than me?
No other officer there stopped me b/c they trusted what I was doing b/c I have more experience than them.
Our situation was not very good.
When he said "I can't breath" , I did hear him but I wasn't paying attention b/c of the camera's around or the situation with his pre existing behavior. I did hear him say it but I did not believe him. I didn't hear him say it at all b/c my hearing is not very good?
Why didn't the other 3 stop Chauvis unless they completely respected him? Did he just want the ambulance and Hospital to deal with Mr. Floyd b/c he thought he was about to OD?
I didn't believe what I did was enough to kill him?
I did not try to kill him?
I would never look in to a mobile phone while grinding my knee in to a man's neck knowing he was about to die?
My wife was about to divorce me anyway and I don't care about anything anymore ?
I'm frustrated over the corona virus and not thinking clearly about what I'm doing?

I don’t think it ever goes to trial
This has all the makings of a “suicide”

People don’t want to hear it but he has reasonable defense

I thought my knee was on his back. Police procedure. The situation was untenable.
It will be on the prosecutor to bring the correct charges.
Personally, I think there is a stronger case for manslaughter than murder.

I think there is a strong chance he walks free

He has one hope:
Autopsy says Floyd wasn’t killed solely by the knee-to-neck restraint. The situation called for a restraint. He executed the knee-to-neck restraint as taught by the police academy and protocol allows for the restraint to remain in place until help arrives.

“As you can see at 1:48 into the video Mr Floyd can effortlessly move his head and neck in any direction. It only appears that Derek was putting intense pressure on it but there is no evidence to support that.”

Chauvin will get a few years.
Plea deal.
No way they get a murder conviction.

Have you read the medical examiners report?

And as you can see at the 7-minute mark Mr Floyd begins to die and the hold is maintained for another 2 and a half minutes
Soooooo.... jail
Soooooo.... jail

I think he has a very good chance. All hinges on what was happening before the event took place.

Nah. He ought to be a sacrificial lamb along with the other 3. Tough but we need to calm people down right now. Let him out later after it has died down if you have to
FWIW I think Manslaughter is a fair charge. I think that’s what it was.

Nothing that happened before the knee to neck justifies the knee to neck and all the behavior that accompanied it
Nothing.

He has a problem there. In their manual, it only approves the technique he was using if a person is actively resisting. The guy was clearly subdued and not resisting at that point (hard to resist face down and cuffed).

Police cannot act until a crime has happened (in theory). If George had broken a law, and the cop was following procedure, then there is not much he can be charged with.

I thought that until I read the Minnesota murder 3 statute
I think they’ll get it

I was actually thinking the same thing. I feel like we'll be reading about Chauvin taking his own life inside his jail cell soon.
