Is he forced to testify?

Hall taking the 5th and does not have to testify per Judge.

Hall is there today? Interesting
Read that as Hail at first, and then wondered why HHTM would have to testify.

I’m spitballing here but why would a defense attorney motion for this if the chances were slim?
Typically done out of presence of jury. Don't know MN criminal procedure, but he many need to make the motion to preserve certain arguments for appeal.

This is bullshite. Doesnt have to answer questions because he could be liable for the death..how does that evidence not matter in this case?

Isn’t the danger of the 5th that you can’t selectively invoke it?
Someone could now be called who could point the finger at Hall and they can’t refute it.
Shouldn’t be hard to prove Hall is a drug dealer and, more specifically, GF’s dealer given his girlfriend’s testimony.

Does the jury know that he was not compelled to testify? If not could the defense attorney slip that tidbit into his closing. “What you didn’t get to hear was testimony about Mr Floyd’s drug use immediately prior to his arrest because the witness was afraid of potentially incriminating himself in Mr Floyd’s death.”

I have a feeling this witness on the stand is going to make or break Nelson's case.

The only other person that was with both Hall and Floyd already testified so no one with direct knowledge could point a finger now.
Hall knew if Chauvin walked he was gonna go down.

He is a forensic pathologist that holds multiple degrees , has trained other pathologist and taught at Universitys and the FBI. He is part of a council that includes pathologist, behavioral pathology, toxicology and Emergency room technicians. They do peer reviews and 13 of them reviewed this case. This guy comes across as one of the top in his field. If he disputes the method of death it will carry not just his weight but also the other 12 experts.

I'm sure this witness will be critical to the defense, but his voice is making me want to go to sleep

Nelson, on purpose, has spent the last 15 minutes having the witness testify to his background and explain, in detail, the work required and the reasoning. This is the witness we have all been waiting on.

I am in a meeting so I only have it on mute in the background but I have to say that he doesn't look quite as put together (for lack of a better way to say it) as the State's Irish guy. Sadly, I think that matters when the jury weighs the two testimonies.

it is kinda boring but when he does give his opinion the jury will take notice because of this testimony.

for what it's worth I'm on the edge of my seat listening to this guy, he's extremely well-spoken and has a knack for explaining things

This witness is very good. Explains in full detail where anyone understands.
He just explained that Floyds death certificate does show that heart disease, Fentynal and meth did contribute to his death.

Good point about carbon monoxide issues b/c GF was near the exhaust. Hadn't heard that anywhere else.
