..The 'hive mind' here can analyze the data over and over and find things a busy prosecutor never could. …
I actually think the location of drop off and a detailed time of events are facts that are currently known by both prosecution and defense. Between GPS tracking, public surveillance cameras (aka Ring doorbells ) and cracking iPhones/cloud data… I believe the facts are already known. We aren’t dealing with the Zodiac killer here. This board serves for us as voyeurs to the case. Nothing more, nothing less. We aren’t going to Hive-solve anything here. (Although I do recommend the documentary “Don’t frick with Cats) I ,personally, am motivated in following this case as an appeasement to my anxiety over having a kid at LSU. My lizard brain is struggling to find clues as to why this tragedy would never happen to my Tiger… when in fact it easily could have.

My challenge with this thread is that we even have such disheartening matters before us....I can only read in snippets. It makes me terribly, terribly sad that some can act with such depraved indifference - it is hard to fathom what some have become, beyond reprehensible

If you don’t think the prosecution consults with the victim’s family in these cases, you are mistaken. Their input is factored into both the decision to prosecute and any potential plea
deal.
deal.

So, no concern for victims or their families? I doubt that's correct.
It does seem in the Rice investigation there was a breakdown between the police (BR) and the victim's family.
DA's are elected, right? Wouldn't they be concerned about any 'fallout' from a plea deal that the family was not consulted about?
I'm sure they'd be informed and asked and that family attorney would be back in the media if the plea deal (if there is one) led to disproportionate sentences compared to the offenses committed.

Okay. My mistake.
I know the family is consulted on plea deals, but unaware that they could veto all procecution.

Well, ultimately they can't "veto" it but it's all political.
Both of the "LSU girl murders" are political in the sense they are (1) high profile events (2) decisions are being made due to the race of the perp(s) and Baton Rouge demographics and (3) the eventual juries will be part of it all.
Technically, a DA would not need to 'consult' any victim or victim family. But no DA wants to be bashed by the family in the local media, nor does any police agency.

It's not up to the family to press charges in a violent crime, its the DA's decision as a representative of the state.
Not so fast. Technically correct but practically not so much.
The DA will absolutely consult the family. I think they have to by law.
This family can afford to hire Fishman Hagood. I think they can make their voice heard with the DA. And if you don’t think the DA will take their wishes into account in this case, well, I’d say you are wrong wrong.

Defense lawyers can read too, baw. The hive mind cuts both ways.

What beneficial comments here have been pro-defense? Concerns expressed about jury but that goes for every case. Comments showing a certain percentage of jury pool 'don't get' sex with a severely drunk girl = rape.
What, Judge, do you think of the analysis of the video within the defendants' car that took place. Please re-watch the video and post your thoughts.
Thanks!

See above...
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
However, I cannot possibly grasp the reality of what has been reported in the media and not wanting justice for what happened to Madi, if she were my daughter/sister/niece.
Perhaps her family is very religious and believe in turning the other cheek. Perhaps they are ultra liberal and don't believe that incarceration helps the crime problem. Perhaps they have criminal organization connections and want to handle things themselves. Perhaps they don't want further details to become publicized because Madi is dead and they've accepted that hard reality. I don't know.
All of these options are incomprehensible to me. I'd want righteous justice, legal or not.

They released it? I’m not going to watch it but I assume she’s completely inebriated and they had their way with her?

I agree. I've read every post in this thread and catch up on it daily, but the subject matter has kept my posting to a minimum. Absolutely reprehensible behavior by so called men and I'd smile if all 4 of them get life sentences

I think he's referring to interview the "investigative reporter" had with the defense attorneys on WBRZ. There were a couple clips in it. Link a few pages back and on p. 349.
The reporter could have given viewers the time stamps but he's mostly useless.

Yes, and on page 381 I posted an analysis of it referencing specific findings.
Another poster had a great find (Madison exited both sides at different points of the video) leading to a new theory:
that she was dropped off in one location only to be picked up and brought to another location.
The defense lawyers also gave us an image of both perps.
Madison is clearly severely intoxicated but the other evidence in the video needs further scrutiny.
Was hoping Judge Holden - one of the more thoughtful posters here - and Clip would add their commentary on it as well.
Including screenshots if they have the technology to do so.
Clip is an out-of-state podcaster about to do a show on the subject. At least, I think he/she/they is/are...

You may onto something. Just a weird tenaciousness and phraseology throughout the history of the thread with this one.

In one of the clips isn't the 17 YO clearly in the FOV? Surprised his face isn't blurred out since he's technically not an adult.
Have not heard if he's to be tried as an adult.

I saw very little in the video that helped me understand the situation.
