I told them face to face if you ever get that low and this crosses your mind please let me know because I will not go through what my best friend and his wife have gone through and will go through for the rest of their lives.

I'm sure you're just paraphrasing here, but that is a rather selfish message, if that's the main point you are trying to make that YOU will not go through the rest of your life like that.

Why? What the hell is going on in their heads? Seriously, not flaming. I have had two cousins commit suicide and I still can't figure it out.

Life is life. If you need help, get it. Or, scream out to someone who will listen till they help you.

Depression isn't necessarily rational. Many times people don't even know why they're depressed.

The ones that have the loving husband, the children, and are comfortable financially are just as bad off as anyone else that's depressed. Maybe they're even worse off because they feel ashamed to be depressed because they have all of those things, so they hide it until it's too late.

After driving 8 hours and watching my lifelong friend, his wife, their 4 other children looking at a lifeless 17 year in a casket you call it what you want. I just wanted my kids to know suicide isn't a option. If it strikes fear in them or I felt better after saying it then so be it. I have open lines of communication and always have so maybe it was selfish on my part but the hurt I saw that day I will never forget.

You are one of the siblings i was referring too that will carry this for your entire lifetime.

Yeah, he and I were close. I knew he was upset with how some things were going in his life, but never thought it would end up like it did. It was and will always be a very emotional subject for me. For the record, i use to be one of those people who called suicidal people cowards, or whatever else to demonize them. That has changed, and I think it does change whoever is struck by it. Whether its people who you almost expect it from, or situations like mine where you are totally blindsided.
