Sure. As long as on the occasion that your filling takes twice as long - you are willing to pay double. You good with that?

If I make you wait more than 15 minutes, I will take $1 off your bill for every minute I made you wait. If I put an emergency in ahead of you, I will tell you and offer to make it up somehow.
"I forgot" costs you

I hope you need a sinus lift someday.

Thats probably the worst possible excuse. You knew you wouldn't be in town and you didn't have the courtesy to call and cancel? You deserve to pay.

You wouldn’t like it if someone no call/no showed on you after making an appointment. I’d write it off but you’re the a-hole in this equation. His/her time is valuable. Put yourself in their shoes.

That is one arrogant office. Don't these dentists realize we just show up and they better take care of our problems or we'll just go on to the next dentist.
The next dentist will be thrilled to fix our teeth and clean them at our demand.

If we're still here, I don't see much of a difference. Doctors are at every corner. I haven't seen my actual doctor in 2 years. I just book with the nurse practitioner.

How trashy are you to NOT call their office that you were going to miss your appointment?

He still has to pay his staff, electric, phone, insurance, water, rent, etc. He or she were unemployed for 8 years or more for their education. When I was practicing if you failed to keep the appointment you were required to make a prepaid deposit that stayed until you were no longer a patient. My office manager kept a total of failed appointments for each year and it totaled over 3 weeks on average each year. How many of you would want to not get income for 3 weeks while paying for all the overhead? I once had a college professor fail and balk so I told him he could write 500 lines of I will keep all my appointments in the future plus pay the deposit. He left and I was glad! So hit the pavement! I knew I would sleep better, because these were the patients that would end up calling at 11PM because they had a tooth ache.

So send them a bill for that $7.75 you would have made and demand they pay up.

I get the feeling the whole office loves no shows because they can take an extra break. Play on their phones and what not.
$55 sounds a bit steep though. I think my dentist charges $35.

My dentist tried to pull that shite on me. Now, I have scheduled like 12 appointments and I always call about 25 hours ahead and reset them.

How hard is it to fricking call if you can't make an appointment? Takes 20 seconds.
Some offices even allow you to confirm or cancel appointments via text. Maybe you should look into that.

First off don't miss the appointment. We all understand your pain about them usually running behind but you can only control what you do. Ask them nicely if you can get out of the bill and apologize. Lastly, be thankful they didn't charge you for the whole price of a visit.

Floss and brush daily and you wont need a dentist.

For me to wait more than 10 min to see my kids pediatrician would be very rare.

No wait at mine. And he’s on faculty at OLOL Ped Residency. He and his staff run a tight ship.

Also, you can not pay it, but you’ll be sent to collections.
Then you send them a letter asking for verification of the debt when collections contacts you and dispute it on your credit report if it is on there.
It's $55; I can't see how any company wants to spend too much time working for that small amount - that includes the dentist's office or any collections co
The dentist is playing the long game by sending you to collections. You waste his time by missing an appointment, then the inconsiderate pt has to waste his time making phone calls to the credit bureaus to get the unpaid charge disputed.
It’s things like this that balance the universe.
