Just got billed $55 for a missed appointment.

What kinda bullshite is this?

Can I start charging for when they are an hour behind schedule?

Bring it up with the office. If they give you shite, find a new dentist and refuse to pay.

It is pretty standard to charge for no show appointments if you do not call ahead of time to let the office know. That is a block of time when they could have scheduled someone else.

Cue the dentists and how valuable their time is (over yours, of course)

I think if you give 24 hours, there should be no fee.

You occupied 1 hour of their time by not showing up. You should have to pay. They scheduled YOU, and didn't schedule someone else.

I understand that logic, but when you make an appointment for 8am and don’t get seen till 9...my time is valuable to me too

Charge that MFer a late fee when you show up for an appointment and they bring you back late or tell him that one of the fine dental hygienist has to work off the fee the hard way.

I have the exact opposite problem with my dentist: his office hounds the shite out of me to make sure I don’t forget. Multiple emails, phone calls, and texts for every fricking cleaning. I’ve been going to him for 20 years and I have never missed an appt, never even been a minute late, but the texts and calls keep pouring in.

Then it sounds a bit harsh. I will generally give someone a pass the first time. But after that make them prepay to reserve another appointment. I have only charged for a broken appointment when I wanted to get rid of a chronic offender.
