Nobody in any medical profession wants to see Medicaid patients. They’re fricking feral and you’re paid shite dollars to deal with their bullshite, if they even show up to their appointment.

It’s ridiculous how poorly dental plans of any carrier pay off.

Not when you understand how it works.

Alabama is a vivid example of a national problem. Most state Medicaid programs pay dentists far less than private insurers do for the same service

Think I found the problem

Medicaid is a joint federal and state program, meaning it is jointly funded by both levels of government and administered by states. The federal government provides funding and sets broad guidelines, while each state runs its own program within those federal rules, leading to variations in eligibility, benefits

Dental insurance is a scam.

I refused to go to any dentist that accepted Medicaid for the last two decades, because they are precisely the ones that push additional services to make it worth treating you.

But, even if you pay cash, for a kid it's $60 or so a visit. You have six months to save for that crushing burden. I can guarantee it's less than low income people spend on cigarettes, booze, Hulu, or a litany of other things in a month. That happens twice a year. Oh, the horror. Government should not be paying for it, period.

We go to a dentist that accepts medicaid. I'm the only one of a lighter pigment in the waiting room. Last week, a routine cleaning, no X-rays, was $130.

You can always teach your children how to clean their teeth regularly and they will only really need the occasional check up.

Orthodontics can be expensive, but you’ve always had to pay up for that. Now there are plans that cover it.

"insurance" (around here) may pay $70 on a cleaning. then factor in the entitled hygienists who think they deserve $50/hour and Voila!, there's no incentive to accept any crappy insurance, including medicaid.

Medicaid patents for the large majority have a sugar filled diet, do not take care of their body or teeth and have a high propensity to not show for appointments.
Anything that is consistently free is never appreciated.

I pay for a dental/vision policy but I usually only need 2 dental cleanings per year and one eye exam with new glasses. My neighbor gets Medicaid and has a lot of dental expenses due to a meth habit. The government has to pay a lot for her dental care and I think they should require that she stop using in order to have her dental visits covered.

be mad at the children’s parents for destroying their kids teeth with the shite they feed them off their EBT cards.

95% of the problems kids have with their teeth are all preventable.

Unless things have changed since I retired, the government only pays for child dental care. They’ll pay for dentures for adults, but won’t even cover the extractions.
