Of course no one did. But the person I replied to is essentially on the verge of a deep dark depression because he had to suffer through student loans, and I’m assuming doesn’t want others to get forgiveness. I just don’t think I have ever personally wanted someone else to suffer because I had to, but that’s just me. I’d love to see college being undergrad degrees to reasonable levels so people wouldn’t have to take out student loans at all. I didn’t get that, I’ve had to budget my life and live frugally. But I’d be happy for others if this rising cost of college was fixed and they didn’t have to do the same thing.

No one put a gun to these peoples' heads to take out these loans.

My dad lost his job my junior year at LSU and I didnt want to transfer to a new school or potentially affect my younger siblings education so I took out the loan. Yea nobody forced me to do it but I wanted to finish up at the school I had made lifelong friends at and also not hurt my parents anymore than they were hurting at the time. It was something that the circumstances just kind of dictated and I knew what I was getting into when I took out those loans.

I didn't read that he wants others to suffer. I read it more just as personal frustration he won't benefit from it like others will after putting forth great effort to pay his off. And I get that. I'd love to get a check for all the student loan payments I made.

I dont want others to go through that and honestly I want some relief because I know a lot of other people my age who are burdened with loans even with decent jobs. It's just one of those things where I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If I could get my money back I would be much more chipper then I am now. Hell I was excited just to get my 1200 check from the feds, if I got my 20k back it could be life changing, I could put a down payment on a house but I cant and I wont be seeing my money or time again

I feel you. Hell, I would have been able to save more money up front so I could keep my daughter in her current daycare. But I couldn’t, we have another one who will soon go to daycare so we need to find something much cheaper. It’s great she just turned 2 and is speaking in English and Spanish. But my wife and I made a decision to get loans, we got to pay them back, so we have to budget and find a new daycare. Because frick paying rent, student loans, and $2200 a month for day care for two.

All the Democrats are trying to do is buy more votes. That's all any of this is. No one forces you to take out a loan, you can defer payments and you can get really cheap monthly payback plans that make it easy on you if you do take out loans though.

The Dems just want more votes. Same reason they are pushing $15/hr minimum wage suddenly. That's a lot of votes if they could get all of that stuff through.

This is not new. Democrats have been buying votes with your money for decades.

I had 20k in student loans when I graduated from LSU. I lived at home for 3 years after working and slowly paying them off until I could move out and finally got them all paid off in January 2020. Seeing all of this happening knowing that I should have just said frick it and lived my life is kind of soul crushing Im not gonna lie. I feel like I sacrificed those good years of my life for nothing, much less I spent them working for the Georgia Republican Party for pennies. These last few weeks/months have really fricked with me mentally Im not gonna lie. I have been exploring going back to school to get my masters but if this wont retroactively give me my money back or some kind of relief for a masters program I am gonna feel truly dead inside.

It's called fairness. You did your part. And now you're probably a taxpayer who will be paying the freight for people who took loans they couldn't afford, bought houses and cars they can't afford, and had a number of kids they can't afford.

It's not about wanting other people to suffer.

frick THAT! Pay your debts! I paid for my college, so can I just get my car loan paid now?

Everything should be free. College, Healthcare, etc. Why stop here? Isn't housing and food more important than all these things?

Let's just go full blown communist. I'm sure our public servants down at the Direktorate will maintain corruption and greed free balance.

Liberals view the Constitution as a worthless document that needs to be ignored.

Wow, I've got $2k left in loans that I took out to go to culinary school. I totalled $18k when all was said and done since I paid close to half while working through school. After years of budgeting and struggling to make sure I paid those loans, this is total horse crap. It's even worse now that I make pretty good money now. I'm still OT poor, but I have a nice portfolio, 401k, full benefits and looking to buy a house in the next year.

They won't do this because it'll make it harder to get student loans going forward for people that clearly aren't worthy of the risk.

It will be harder to get loans to pay tuition for programs that don't pay off.

The funny thing is there is no possible way that student loan forgiveness is that popular even in the democratic party.

It sounds good for college educated rich liberals with bullshite degrees, but 2/3 of american's don't go to college, tons already paid off loans, the balance are probably split in supporting it or not supporting it.

It is a massive expenditure that helps a very small number of people that truly need it.

Starting a Civil War over student loan forgiveness? Jesus Christ and y'all actually upvoted this crazy shite. The unhinged loonies on this site are getting worse by the day
