Demco Outage Map shows five customers out of service.

Five.

While true, I’m quite sure they know what their capacity looks like and what happens as they approach it.

Oh, and all of you natural gas homies, what would happen if there are mass power outages and everyone tried to run NG heat/stoves/water heaters? NG pressure would plummet and none of your stuff would work. Again, extremes aren't design cases.
You are proving my point. If there were not already the multitude of homes on the DEMCO grid using natural gas for heat, like myself, and every one of these said homes was served with only electricity then DEMCO could not meet the daily demand. And therefore they are in over their heads and should shrink their service area to what their Hooterville-like infrastructure can supply with power (which they do not have the ability to produce) and leave the real electric utility service to the big boys. Thank you for clearing that up for me. Gonna get up and turn my heat up a notch or two.

Are there any emails requesting you to disconnect your eVehicle from its charger?

I thought EVs could save the grid like in the commercials

If everyone is SELA had one and they were set up properly then it would actually be a significant buffer for peak load. That is still years out AFTER major adoption of EVs in general.

Think of them as capacitors in an electronic circuit.

Entergy and Demco apparently are worse than cancer.

I've had Entergy for close to 30 years in Arkansas and only remember 2 real outages due to storms. This must be a Louisiana problem.

Not long ago there was a Entergy complaint thread and a contractor who worked for them said it really is a Louisiana Entergy problem. The other Entergy states have their shite together.

I would say it mostly stems from the New Orleans Entergy company… which Entergy would gladly get rid of. The politics alone aren’t worth it.

This is silly. That alternate reality doesn’t matter because you do have gas. Their infrastructure is based on actual peak loads, not some hypothetical where 100% of the customer base swaps their gas appliances for electric all at the same time. If we lived in that alternate reality, everything would be sized for larger peak loads but they’d be in the same boat because they would still have all-time record demand today. The new record would just be higher.

Once there are EV virtual power plant programs they can do a lot to help. There just aren’t any programs for them yet and it’s all being developed with home energy storage. That’ll change as it grows.

At this point, it’s safe to assume a DEMCO lineman fricked his wife.

Or you could set a reserve to make sure you have enough. Or just not participate if you don’t want to get paid for it.
