Is it starting to get too late for a significant northeast turn? Or is there still time? Just curious and not wishcasting for either.

I think there is still time. It looks like the eye is about 110 miles south of the Sabine Pass. But if the current forecast track is going to verify, I think we will have to see that more northeast shift in the movement pretty soon.

They used to be all named after women.

I remember when they decided to share the honor with men.

I believe it was in 1979.

Yeah...I’m old.

Jodie was a very erratically moving storm which made multiple landfalls over Louisiana, partially influenced by a Fujiwhara interaction with Ida

Appropriately named storm

So I’m guessing this thing isn’t weakening before landfall as expected

Doesn't appear it's weakened much yet. I hope the 10am update will provide us more clarity.

I've a lot of family who decided to stay on the I-10 corridor between Welsh and Lafayette.

Delta has been riding the western edge of the 4am cone. Curious to see if that impacts the turn any.

biggest peak weak I see on the SFMR data from the current HH plane in the storm in 85 kts (100 mph)

don't know what the NHC would extrapolate it to when they add flight level winds
