In addition to having two different recon missions flying through #Delta tonight (@53rdWRS & @NOAA_HurrHunter) the KBRO radar is also catching the edge of Delta on reflectivity. Looks to be moving nearly due north now w/ the NW eyewall still looking pretty robust. LINK

Third lowest ever @919. Not sure about at landfall, though. And that fricker was "only" a Cat 4 at landfall until that revised it to a 5 in the offseason.

Being a "Gustav Bro" now that it has rained in BR for over 4 hours and heavy at times, should I be worried about the ground saturated and trees falling again once we start getting TS winds?

Edit - It has not rained here in over 2 weeks

Well, any time heavy rain and gusty winds are together that is a possibility.

After experiencing Gustav in Sherwood forest....

I would never buy property with pine trees on it near my house

Saw one snap and split a house in half right in front of my eyes...thankfully nobody was in the house.

Exactly what I was thinking. These storms can’t be helping at all

I saw more pine trees uprooted by Laura than I would have imagined. Normally they snap before the roots give way.

I will say the Euro had this thing pegged from the get go.

Ehh, it's funny how this works. We only care where a storm makes landfall and then judge the model accordingly, but the reality is this - which of these two models on Monday night missed more at 7PM Friday?

ETA - and there are other examples of that going back and forth between the GFS and Euro. Absolute error is how models are judged, but as residents, we obviously care most about the landfall point and not nearly as much about the potentially massive timing misses that happen.

Reminds me of the pic with the girl on the couch with the dudes standing behind her

I should be shocked BR is our first Delta power outage, but with dukke v, anything is possible.
