I'd expect to be without power for at least a few days in BR and possibly more than a week in spots. I wouldn't stay for that with my little one without access to a generator.
We had a toddler during Gustav and were without power for 8 days in September. It was hot as hell and pretty miserable. We couldn't leave due to work.

I'm still considering leaving NOLA, even with the current trends on models and I think the odds of bad wind are lower.
I’m in St Charles Parish and my in-laws are in Houma. Booked 2 rooms in Houston earlier today just in case. If we don’t leave, the in-laws can at least come up here. We got a standby generator installed in June.
Main concern for me is the surge. I’m on the westbank, and at the back of my neighborhood is a large pumping station, a levee and swamp.

Weather baws. Why is there no defined eye yet and does that mean anything concerning the strengthening/weakening of it?

was a weird time to say what you did while people are asking about the safety of their families with newborns

Disrupts their sleep? Newborns will sleep through the fricking 4th of July. I think the newborns parents are whining more than their kids would be

I have a two week old baby.
My threshold for leaving is pretty fricking low.
I left Mandeville for Katrina and glad I did. I would have been dead. Three massive old growth pines and a 42 inch diameter gum tree went through my house. I lived on the road between Mandeville and Shreveport for 3 months with a 9 month old and a 4 year old. Not fun.
With that said and based on what I'm seeing I'm not evacuating and I live south of I-12 just north of Madisonville. My kids are in college and high school now but I have three dogs and boarding them would be too complicated.

I’m below you in plaquemines parish. If you leave, I’m leaving too

I would think a 4 anywhere in the gulf would give Plaquemines some issues

Oh it will for sure. Luckily I’m on the north end of the parish

Up until my twins were about 6 months old they slept like rocks no matter how much noise you made around them. I've seen most of my friends kids do the same. A little wind wont wake them up

We'll sound the alarms if the danger for NOLA and down Plaquemines way would be in bigger danger. Y'all are in for some surge without a doubt, but will depend on just where this thing goes in.
Everyone looking to what I'm doing for their plans...
I've got to be able to cold store breastmilk, pump the stuff, wash the ridiculous assembly and keep bottles sanitized and clean. What I'm concerned about is electricity and very few of you will have my exact concerns.
I'm here for you baws with infants though.
