Great, I’m catching a delta flight to ATL tomorrow morning…. Just what I wanted to see.

I flew a Delta flight out of DFW in 1985 and looked at the burnt carcass of flight 191 Delta that crashed and disintegrated a day or two before.

Looks like landing gear overheated.

Saw this on Reddit. Apparently one of the tires blew out when landing.

It was on the OT first.

Landing on 9L is highly unusual. That runway is used pretty much exclusively for departures. I haven’t had a chance to talk to anyone about it, but they may have known prior to landing that there was an issue with the gear or brakes, and requested the closer runway just in case.

Very rough day…I flew Delta MSY to ATL yesterday morning…AC wasn’t working right and they were bringing us back to the gate when a passenger had a medical emergency. EMS got him off the plane, thankfully he seemed to be doing fine when they took him off. We finally take off and landed 5 min before my connection. The plane was hot until 20K feet, so they definitely didn’t fix the AC.

Between shite like this, unruly passengers, countless delays, lost luggage, etc. idk why anyone chooses to fly if you can reach your destination within 9 hours by driving or within the day by train.

Problem with landing gear/wheels?

Looks like a blown tire.

If, for some reason, they have to stand on the brakes to get the plane stopped… they may have evacuated as a precaution because the brakes was yellow hot. They can catch the tires on fire and not soon after the plane would be a smoking pile.

That’s probably why they are hosing down the gear. To cool the brakes and prevent a fire.

Jeez supposed to fly delta tomorrow.

I travel a good deal for business and air travel is getting worse and worse. In fact, my experience in a few weeks ago traveling to Peoria had brought me to the conclusion our air travel network is almost non-functional at this point. Air travel is becoming so torturous I’ve reconsidered how far I’m willing to drive when I travel. For example, week after next I’m making the nine and a half hour drive from north Alabama to Peoria, which is less time than it took me to fly there a few weeks ago.

12 hour drive or less and I'm driving it these days. Flying blows arse. It's a total crapshoot whether or not you'll get there on the day you need to be there.

Eta: not to mention every plane to everywhere being well occupied by shitty people.

12 hours is also what I’m setting as my drive limit for business travel. When you factor in the hassle of air travel, how uncomfortable the seats are now as they cram more and more seats into planes, and the endless delays; it’s just not worth it. Really, the only thing air travel had left going for it was it was a faster way to travel. But now, due to endless delays where you’re left sitting sweltering in a rancid smelling metal tube with no air on a tarmac for up to an hour or more, even that advantage is gone.

Delta flight from ATL to PCola on Monday. Was traveling from San Diego. Get to PCola to grab luggage and get alert on my phone that my luggage was getting boarded on a plane in ATL on next flight to PCola. Luckily I had a delicious dinner at Bone Fish grill while waiting 2 hours.
