re: Delphi, Indiana murders. How have authorities not caught this person?

I don't know that specifics have been confirmed, but a retired prosecutor in the area mentioned that there were 2-3 "signature" acts that were performed such as posing, etc...

It was a search party that originally found the bodies, not LE. There were a few text screenshots that got out between one of the members in that group and another person that described the scene. I thinking the texts said one of them was stabbed only a few times and posed on a stump to appear to be praying and the other was decapitated. But we’ll probably never know if those screenshots were legit unless someone is arrested

What information has leaked that make people think this? I’m curious. From what I’ve read, cops are tight-lipped, and won’t even confirm how the murders were done.
In the podcast I mentioned in my OP, the hosts alluded to the nature of the murders in a very round about way that leads one to believe that they were particularly gruesome.

Did they ever find that cop killer on exit 34 on the BG Parkway?
As Abu said, no. It was absolutely an ambush.
They also never found who killed a mother/daughter in the area around the same time. And as far as Crystal Rogers is concerned, they had heavy suspicion that it was her boyfriend whose brother was in the police force there but the "family farm" had clearly been turned over by someone before the cops got a warrant (Crystal's body has never been found). Her Mom and Dad pushed and pushed to have it further investigated and then her Dad was shot on his hunting ground, just sniped right in the middle of the field (his grandson was in the truck).
A lot of people suspect her Dad was getting really close to what happened and who all was involved. It's incredibly fricked up.

so it wouldn't surprise me if it's someone traveling through and that's why no one can pin him down.
Looking at the clothes instead of the face:
That's a whole lot of randomly put together clothes, the kind of collection that comes from a closet and a hallway with a lot of jackets hanging there. Mostly wearing out.
From traveling with a man, I can't see most men carrying an entire wardrobe of old clothes with themselves cross country.
Are those clothes chosen so that they could be burned after his outing that day?

Interesting - and very beautiful - part of the world, but there is something rotten in the social fabric there right now.
Read the article you linked and damn. That’s whole lot of cold blooded murder for a small town.

If you watch the zoomed in video, you can tell the guy just has his head down and you’re seeing the top of his head. He’s not wearing a hat.
There's been two sketches released, and the police think he looks somewhere in between the two. One of the sketches the guy has a flat cap on:
There's two huge clues here the police likely know, one is how the girls were killed and how they were left. I'm not a cop but that likely gives a psychological profile of the killer and some clues as far as if he knew them.
2ndly and more importantly. Is why they didn't run? Dude doesn't look like an athlete, there was 2 of them. Did he have a gun or knife on one of them? I'm not sure the normal profile, but someone here said stabbed. So if he had a knife on one girl, what's the likelihood the other girl listens as opposed to runs away?

They were on a bridge. A very old, dilapidated railroad bridge at that. So they couldn’t really run.

We don't know that the situation turned bad on the bridge do we? Is there signs of a struggle? For all we know they were with the killer in a friendly manner until the very end. But, I mean the bridge gives them just as much of an advantage as it does a middle age guy. If there's two of them, they both run away and he catches one of them. The other should still have an advantage even on a bridge to escape for help.
My main point is it seems likely the girls either knew the killer or he lured them in somehow.

The grainy picture of the suspect is of him walking towards the girls on the bridge. The audio recording of the suspect saying "Down the hill" makes me think he was ordering them at gunpoint to get off the bridge.
The girls apparently didn't get good reception on that part of the trail, which is why the detectives think the one took a picture and audio recording

This was always my assumption too (albeit not necessarily with a gun - but that would make sense)

Sure, but he's still a good distance away on the bridge. if they were truly scared of him at that point they could have ran still?
Two 14 year olds dropped off by their sister, they likely knew this area well. I'm just very surprised if they were concerned for their health why they wouldn't run for help. Maybe they did and he caught them. I just feel like its likely they either knew him or he lured them in somehow. Who knows how, could be any number of things.
As likely as the girls were to just listen, they were also 13 and 14 and likely typical rebellious teenagers not wanting to listen to an adult.

Even the most hardened criminals typically comply when a gun is put in their face. Two teenage girls are absolutely going to do whatever he requested in the hope that he lets them go once he's done.
