Does not having Facebook really affect your day to day life?
I've had Facebook since 2006.
I suspended my account for 1 week earlier this year just to see. And yes, in subtle ways, it does make a difference.

How is TD exempt from this characterization?
You hearing voices coming somewhere out of that void between your ears? I never said it was exempt from anything. TD survived my social media purge for keeping up to date on my teams. You may want to consider it as an option as well...could be the cause of your little bitch attitude

I've been struggling with depression and I think social media is the root cause.

FB is a cancer. I opened up my account when it was still only available to people with university email addresses. Then I think it was 09-10 when I deleted it. I honestly had no interest in all the shite people posted.. But of course it was like a train wreck. I still wanted to look at it.
And when people posted something political or religion related, I couldn't help but read the comments and it was like the stupidity would spread around in my head and there was always that one comment that I would get bothered by and I would have to stop. Take a deep breath and ask myself "why does this shite bother me? In the grand scheme of things, what value does all of this have?" and finally I deleted it.
A friend of mine deleted his this Summer and he said he wished he would have did it earlier. He said that no matter how ridiculous he thought it was, just having the app on his phone and it being so easy to access, he would look at it and finally realized it was a complete waste of time, which I think many people are starting to realize.
Not to mention, how "real" are people on FB? Their post tells one story of their life, but what's the real story? In the long run, I don't think it is healthy for society,

I just assume the people that can't handle social media have massive insecurity issues.
I use social media to follow businesses/promotions, plan events, follow a few interesting people, and keep in touch with friends and family.
What are you people using social media for that it effects your lives so much?

Yep you're perfect, and this internet interaction is reinforcing your belief.
Now, if you will excuse me.
