Men shouldn't care about other men's social media accounts.

Did it a few years a go. It's much better and i've gone back to looking for enjoyment in real life around me. I work on computers all day for work and my days are long. Got to unplug sometimes.
It also feels nice not having to read everyone either complaining or showing off. There is very little quality content for what you have to sift through.

this makes sense....you made an edgy life choice that sets you apart, but with facebook and Instagram gone you had no place to get attention for it. good job coming to the OT

I keep my social media so someone can get in touch with me for whatever reason through messenger, but I have the self control not to look at that garbage and waste my time.

Now you should delete your account on that horrible tigerdroppings.

When people rush to TD tell us they deleted their FB account and they feel so much better, it speaks to exactly what you said...they don't have to willpower to just ignore the stuff that annoys you. It's not that hard.

Should be required reading in high school these days.

And came here and made a Facebook type post to fill the gaping hole in your "look at me" heart.
Delete your TD account and everyone would be happier.

Congrats! It has been almost a year since I shut down all my social media and without a doubt, it was absolutely one of the best decisions I ever made. Only issue I have found is if you happen to be job searching for any reason (depending on your field) it can unfortunately come in to play.To the extent of "No social media footprint? What is this person hiding" It can prevent some doors from opening for you, but as long as you can get a face to face you have the opportunity to ease their minds.

Good choice IMHO. Did it a long time ago, and honestly do not miss it a bit.

Ive never had a Facebook or Instawhore account.
People truly used to look at me weird when i told them, as if i was some weirdo (I am)...
Just dont follow the crowd. They usually fall off a cliff one by one together.

Is the general consensus that message boards are social media? I mean, sure that argument makes sense if you use a literal definition of social media, but in the context of what "social media" is in this day and age, I would argue that message boards don't meet the criteria, or at least are a totally different form of social media.
For one thing, message boards predate social media sites like Facebook and Instagram by decades. Secondly, the anonymity of message boards like this one completely differentiate them from sites like Facebook.
I see much more value in old school anonymous message boards like this one than in modern social media like Facebook. I'd love to hear others thoughts on this.
I think it's more about how the site is used. This site, TD, it's unquestionably a social media site to me. Yes, there is anonymity, but threads on the OT here are not really that different than what you see on your FB feed.
