Bout to crash, good talk. You didn't change my mind but you presented a good argument and gave me shite to think about (you resorted to a couple shitty tactics but mostly good arguments).

I wish you the best, good chatting with you

I agree. Appointments are harder to make these days and doctors are always in a hurry.

I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, but this made me hit my wife.

Have a good one, if you see an obese, illiterate, brunette chick with a black eye in the next couple days, just know that it was your fault.

Roger Wilco. I do love that, on this site, people can be civil even if they disagree. Like I said, you seem like good people and I wish you the best.

Absolutely, the eye exam is on me. The only caveat is you have to vote No on the bill - since we all now know that you're in the legislature

You have given some very insightful comments on why the medical profession needs its current division of nurse practitioners and doctors.

However, as others have noted, the problem is not your logic but the logic of the common man. On average, people will happily pay for cheaper alternatives. Convincing the populus that a doctor is worth the extra $$ is becoming harder with the current state of health care.

BTW this thread is longer than ALL of the Southern threads combined.

Y'all realize a copay is going to be the same for a primary care doctor and a primary care NP, right? I don't see how this is going to make health care more affordable, especially if misdiagnoses increase repeat visits.

Ignore how it gets paid. NP is a lower cost solution.

Yeah for a pregnancy it would probably be best to use an OBGYN, however for my ear infection or flu, a NP could do the trick.

Story: went to the ER one night in College. Had no insurance. NP checked my ear gave me a shot and got me a script. A real doctor came in and looked at my ear and left, and I got a bill for $900 from the hospital, paid and all good. Then a $900 bill came from the doctor, frick that. I never paid it, that worthless SOB. So you won't get any sympathy from me. A NP can deal with a ton of minor stuff without the overwhelming cost of the MDs.

At some point, Chicken is either going to anchor it, or make LATigerDoc pay for his lobbying effort.

But it's generated good healthcare conversation on whole, so props for that.

But a visit that is subject to deductible, which is a ton of them right now, would be 20% cheaper.

Word on the street is the Np camp may lobby to throw some amendnents on this bill and try to legislatively ram it through to get it passed.

Express your opposition and call your Rep. This bill is bad - it removes the doctor from the patient room. Needs to be defeated

Louisiana nurse practitioners and midwives

My brother is a physician's assistant. There's plenty he does, and all a doctor does is sign off on it.

Honestly, the law would just reflect what a lot of practices already do.
