If you've ever worked in China, any and everything stupid that happens in China will not surprise you. Just spend a few minutes in a taxi in that traffic is all it will take.

They came up with a work-around due to necessity.

They spent 10B in 12 months on the Nividia chips, and yes, I agree, nothing will happen; no laws were broken.
But honestly, the chips aren't the biggest story.
It's more the way they approached the issue and rethought the base processes of AI.

Scruffy, I've noticed this as well. It seems people aren't interested in efficiencies driven by competition in the marketplace, or really economics at all anymore. All they seem care about is nationalism and partisan politics. Welcome to populism.
Is this a Chinese company/platform/technology or simply a foreign one?
If it’s Chinese, frick it. The Chinese government is an enemy of every American citizen, and frankly an enemy to everyone not in the Chinese government.

Is it simply because it’s from China?
Yes

That new approach will help Nvidia, not hurt them.

All AI and the countries and companies who produce/manage them are a threat to the people.

Why do people have a problem with DeepSeek?
It simply shows that this tech can be made more cheaply.
Because that is a lie. They release the code and costs they wanted to, they did not release everything.
It is amazing how many people here want to trust China

How so?
Efficiency gains increase demand, not decrease it.
We use more gasoline than ever, yet vehicles have never been more fuel efficient.
More lanes always means more traffic
Increases in agriculture yields led to more land being used to grow crops, not less.
Hell we've already seen it in the AI/Tech space. Data centers are 100x more "efficient" than they were 10 years ago and they can't build them fast enough today.

Yeah, China hacks all of our shite and you know we constantly return the favor. The whole world of the government cyber shadows is wild to think about.

I undestand your analogies, but the new processes with AI use less expensive chips.
NVDA had the best, high-performance chips on the market, and they were in high demand.
China spent 10B with NVDA IN 12 months on the lesser expensive chips.
I think overall demand will increase, and Moore's law is undefeated.
This new process opens the door wider for Intel and AMD. Nvidia will be fine, but demand for their most expensive chips will decline quite significantly.

Knowingly downloading anything from China is like saying Satan is a nice guy because he gave you a new pair of shoes.

100% disagree. The big boys will continue to use the latest/greatest/most expensive chips, this is more likely to increase their demand for Nvidia's top tier chips.
The people pushing the frontier will only buy more of the most expensive shite.

China has made Walmart one of the largest retailers in the world and has been suppressing inflation in America for 25 years.
China gave Americans the choice of cheap goods or saving American jobs, and Americans chose cheap goods. Don't blame China.
