Dealing with burnout?

How are the older baws in here dealing with it? Been doing the same job for 22 years. Pretty much empty nesters, and it sucks. Is there really anything else to look forward to?

Start a new hobby. Go to church. Teach the younger generations. Volunteer when you can. Celebrate the holidays.

In all honesty, you basically only have retirement to look forward to and if you haven’t developed hobbies or have regular friends, you will probably end your life sitting in a recliner 2 years after you stop working

My kids are 12 and 9 but posts on the OT like this made me decide a long time ago I’m going to start training a squirrel dog once they’re out of the house. I want to do something outside that takes lots of time and requires lots of walking but doesn’t a cost a ton. Just about any Terrier or Fiest from the shelter can be trained to tree squirrels if you spend enough time with it in the woods. That’s my advice to you as well. Find a new hobby outside the office that takes up some of the time you used to spend with the kids. Preferably something out in nature. God speed.

I’d love to, wife has older parents she’s scared to leave for more than a few days. Seriously debating about just taking a trip by myself

idk man its a weird feeling. Probably 10 more years of work and nothing more to look forward to there but it still sucks a good bit of the life out of me. Ive considered changing careers to garbage man or something

Kind of where I'm at. I've been doing more or less the same thing for 24 years, kids are just about both legal adults.
I think to myself sometimes at work, do I really have to do this shite for 15+ more years

Become a Mississippi State fan. It will suck the life out of you in a matter of weeks and turn you into a stone cold pessimist.

I dont normally encourage people to start drinking, but you might need it.
