Regardless though this situation doesn't warrant deadly force. The guy had a pipe, the police officers can retreat or subdue with tazers/batons. There is risk for them, but their job is inherently risky. They cannot just shoot anyone that may or may not cause them harm though, as then you can justify anything

This is BS, I'd bet you if you you replaced the multiple cops with one legally armed citizen claiming self defense in this situation the citizen would be behind bars. That badge shouldn't give them any more right to kill in self defense than a normal citizen and it darn sure shouldn't give them the right to kill for unarmed non-compliance. No a single man 15 feet away holding a piece of pipe 2 feet long is not armed. Seems like he keeps the pipe always so he probably didn't even realize it was considered a weapon.

Deaf people aren't stupid or mentally handicapped. I don't know the specifics of the case but I believe most deaf people would have understood to put the pipe down as weapons were drawn on them.
However, we really don't know all the facts so it's hard to judge.

I don't understand the victim mentality some of you idiots have. It's not the cops fault if you don't put the weapon down and/or your keep approaching.
And btw, the general publics safety is the reason why they shoot to kill and not to maim. It's common sense. A wounded maniac is more likely to injure an innocent by standard.
Some of you people, I mean survival of the fittest is dead, that is clear. You are the aftermath of that.

Article says 15 feet which is six feet further into the "danger zone" for police. Rule of thumb is 21 feet according to a guy I saw on tv the other day discussing the incident. Pretty sure I've heard that before.

I think the only way this gets worse is if the officer walks, which, statistically speaking, is likely. I doubt a random know nothing on the interwebs will affect the general outlook of the incident.
