nope

They can sit in jumpseats outside the cockpit. I'm only talking about protecting the integrity of the cockpit. I don't care if they sit in a jump seat by the food cart.

You are quite possibly the dumbest male poster on this site. Good work.

Not sure why this got downvoted because it’s true. All these participation trophies, pass them to get along and dumbing down requirements is going to come back to haunt us eventually.
Should be obvious giving a 10 year old a piece of plastic for second place leads directly to mass murder. Only a libtard would disagree.

The suspect was en route to San Francisco, where he was scheduled to be on a flight crew of a 737, the official said.
Alaska Airlines said the off-duty pilot was sitting in the flight deck jump seat -- which is in the cockpit -- and "unsuccessfully attempted to disrupt the operation of the engines."
He was heard in the moments prior saying something similar to, “I’m not right,” a federal official told ABC News.
So just kill yourself. No need to take 83 other lives with you.

but the suspect here was a forty something white male - pretty much the prototypical airline pilot.
Yes. Being white and male automatically qualifies one to fly a commercial airliner.

Anyone remember that Chinese flight 5735 from March of 2022? It was a 737-800 that fell from the sky killing 132. China claimed Boeing gave them a defective plane, but pilots who watched the video said it was a suicide dive and the pilot did it intentionally.
I didn't know about that one, but the similarities to EgyptAir Flight 990 are pretty eerie:
Third-world government carrier insists upon mechanical defect.
Others point to deliberate suicide by one of the pilots.
First officer was a very senior pilot who somehow never made captain.

Swept under the rug because it was caused by a pilot who was a minority who never should have been a pilot.
Of course! Minorites can't fly airplanes.

I am going to go with the airline pilot over the passenger who needs two seats on this one.

It should be. what purpose does it serve to let a non flying pilot sit with the other pilots other than distracting conversation from the task at hand?
You're letting an isolated incident influence your thoughts. I'd much rather 3 sets of eyes be in the cockpit on any flight I'm on. I'm mean the dude is a pilot, he could have done this at any time.

The one that killed the Chinese spy Eric Swalwell used to bang?

If what the pilot says is true, then one of the following must be true:
1) it isn't that hard to fly a large jet
Or
2) no minorites or trans people fly large jets
Or
3) large jets crash into the ground on a daily basis
Which is it,moron?

No deadheading pilot should be in the cockpit ever during flight.
Your logic is retarded. The jump seat doesn’t matter here. He would have been in command of an airliner just a few hours later.
It’s mental health issue that the FAA needs to address. Pilots can’t seek therapy without fear of losing their medical certificates and their careers. So they don’t address it and it gets worse.

In another 20 years, AI will take control of a plane that it deems to be out of control.

I think this makes complete sense, especially given what that German pilot did a few years back when the other pilot on the flight left to go to the bathroom. I don't think any one person should ever be left in the cockpit alone, ever. Even a medical emergency suffered by the lone pilot at the controls would be disastrous without the other pilot having a way back in.
