Also work from home. Monday and Tuesday were busy, but so far today quiet. Good thing for radio/tv to drown out the mice farts.

It's a dreary, depressing, and rainy day here. It's extremely quiet as people are slowly trickling in.

We should essentially just take the rest of the week off.

Vacation until the 7th - you desk jockeys enjoy your day.

As someone who ran companies I never understood why other businesses didn't do what I did.

I always saw holidays that fell on a mid day week or whatever a chance to give employees a free perk. No one would be working today. Probably tomorrow either. Maybe a check in staffer but even then I'd probably make it myself and do whatever needed to be done.

I agree. It just pisses people off and gives low morale.

6 out of 9 are here today.

Traffic has been awesome last week and this week. My normal 50-55 min commute has taken 25-30 min.

A bit active but not like normal. Mainly cleaning out the messy office of someone who retired 12/31 and getting it ready for the new person coming in Monday (actually she's coming over tomorrow to bring her stuff).

Tomorrow a lot of folks are off as they work 4-10's and take Friday off.

Monday things will get busy again.

Walked into my office, clicked coffee pot to on, grabbed a bagel, plugged in Xbox, and I will be slaying bitches in PubG until I decide to go harass the staff.

Need new monitors

In my defense, I am at least reviewing emails and performance reports from last year on the other monitor

ETA: there are four of us here. Just to say we are staffed really.

Honestly, I'd rather be at the office where it's quiet than at home where my kids are constantly bickering, or asking me to take them to a movie, or asking me to take them to a friend's house, or complaining about there being nothing to eat even though the fridge is overflowing with food.

Exactly. Also, I’m not using PTO days just to avoid a 2-day week of relatively light work. Besides, it’s nice to get a jump on the new year before the first “full, normal” week of work.

I will be checking for incoming wire transfers the next few days that are due and likely will be late. One client called and was already hollering on NYE that his lawyers (for a financial instrument) were all out until next week, while he was vacationing in Maui. A penalty was supposed to kick in after the 20th but verbally agreed to for end of year.

Been the only one in the office for a while. I’m sure a few millineals will roll on at their normal 9:00am -9:30am start time tho. Lazy fricks.

How much actual work have you done during that time period?

Sitting at your desk != working.

We have one lady that will take 2-3 plates with her home. Anytime we have clients in the showrooom, which is about twice a month at least she will go as soon as they are finished and get a mound of food I dont get it

I would say the factory is about 30% and the office maybe 40%. We are an older office, but starting to get young again. A lot of the people have been here 30-40 years and getting ready to retire.

A bit more people have come in today as opposed to earlier this week, but things are still really slow right now. People are clearly still in holiday mode.

On Monday I left the office at 10:30am because there just wasn’t shite to do. Next week is going to suck arse

Just remember this year is a leap year so it will push all the holidays back an additional day. So, holidays that were on Wednesday last year, 4th of July, Christmas, and New Year's for next year, will be pushed over one additional day. This year 4th of July, Christmas and next year's New Years Day all fall on Friday.

So most businesses will probably just observe a long weekend instead of literally taking the whole week off unless you are the boss and take whichever days you want to take off.
