Know for a fact that several kings have spent well over 1MM. They commission the posters, any type of special throws and host multiple parties/breakfasts/dinners throughout the week. Not to mention travel and accommodations.

Jim Flores, Richard Zuschlag, Roy Martin, Boysie Bollinger, and Tom Benson all spent pretty pennies on theirs.

Hell the private jets and limos that Flores chartered for friends were probably close to a million.

I talked to my dad about it earlier. He went and said that they'd oversold the event by hundreds (someone making some money no doubt). To address this, they put big TV's in the ancillary event rooms (down the hallway past the escalators) and people watched it on fricking TV - even though it was going on 150 feet away.

Every now and then, someone would walk in and throw beads so people would feel like they were there. I would raise hell if I got demoted to side room seating. Who the frick did they get to decide that? I bet that led to some heated conversations.

Also, there's some stink about scalped tickets, but I don't know all of the details. maybe you'll get to read about it soon.

I don't know why some of you think it's paid for by taxes, but you're idiots. Canes guy did spend a lot on bands, etc. but it's really just part of a tradition to see who can act the most like a big shot. None of it is expected.

I would love to see some of you movers and shakers in action, though. I'm sure that's priceless.

I don't get this thread. Is this something about rich people from New Orleans?

It’s not just New Orleans, but people all over the state go.

The Frau(no pics) and I go every other year with the in laws. It's a good time. All I've got to show for it is a commemorative plate, a pewter picture frame, and a stuffed raising cane dog in a king outfit. All sitting to my right on a shelf as I type this. Oh, and an Ochsner paper weight. I always look forward to it though. Hit up after parties, skim expensive booze, look at eye candy, walk around Georgetown, watch a bunch of "my dad will sue your arse" types kiss up to politicians. Good time.

Yep, the dinner and parade are cool but I love the first night. It's downhill from there.

If you're direct you should be good. If it's delayed, try to grab a connection through Atlanta
