I heard Todd Graves spent about $2 million on the weekend as king.

That number keeps growing every time I hear it

I’m not claiming it’s accurate, I’m just telling you what was relayed to me. Its hearsay, but I fully trust the person that told me.

Regardless of the final number, I’m sure it was an obscene amount of money.

I have actually never been to Washington Mardi Gras. Have had the opportunity but for one reason or another it’s never worked out. Plan to attend next year.

FTR, I know several groups that go every year, usually because their daughters are in it, and as well off and wealthy as these people are, none of them would ever spend $750k-$2mm to be a king of DC Mardi Gras. They already spend enough money on the real deal down here and contribute enough money to politicians throughout the year to get what they need.

That sounds right to me. I know a lot of people who go to DC Mardi Gras every year. It's a business trip before anything else.

I've actually never been. I planned on going this year but the week before we took a different trip and I didn't want to use that many vacation days in one month.

Can always go next year.

Most of the kings pay for it thru their companies and write some it off as marketing expenses. Warner Thomas, Ochsner CEO, was king last year. He didn't pay pay personally

Say what you want, I got more networking and shite done with more people than I eat lunches with for a month. Everyone you need to talk you in one place and feeling good.

Huh? I've said that WMG is a business event and a lot of fun. We're on the same side of this argument...

How the frick do you think deals get done? Wining and dining. A lunch at Chili's might seal the deal when Michael Scott needs to sell 20 boxes of paper. Big deals take bigger parties.

I don’t care one way or the other regarding DC Mardi Gras but this is a stupid statement.

Coming from you, I'll consider that vindication and a compliment. Run along. Adults are talking.

The event may not be funded by taxpayer dollars, but taxpayers foot the travel bill for most of the politicians from Louisiana who attend.
