Then perhaps people could stop trying to solve the problem by banning guns

Guns are not the problem.

Ban guns and the frickers will just resort to homemade bombs. Instead of shooting up people in a school or a mall, they'll just blow the place up - and possibly escape without being found too.

Mental health is the real issue. Some weak minded pople that spend hours and hours playing violent video games are developing mental health issues.

Because revolutions never happen right? Im not saying we are even close to a revolution, but just look at how quickly venezuela went to the shitter. Those people didnt have guns and their government literally just ran them over in the streets.

In this thread and others people have referenced not wanting to live in other shithole third world countries, because we are safer here. A notion to which I completely agree.

However, why are we then bringing up what happens in these other shithole countries as a justification for us needing guns to protect against our government?

You can’t have it both ways. We’re safer here than certain shitholes because we’ve advanced as a civilization and a culture.

Which goes completely out the window online, even when discussing something inconsequential like sports. The internet has improved our lives immensely, but there are some severe negative consequences. One of them is validating and enabling the fringe elements of society, be they radical Muslims, teenage outcasts, incels, or political crazies. The poliboard has some of that, and while I dont think any of them are dangerous, it wouldn't surprise me if one or two were actual true believers. And there are sites on the internet that make the poliboard look like Mr Rogers Neighborhood.

I don't have a solution and I don't advocate curtailing free speech. I think its something we'll have to live with, like guns. The genie is out of the bottle on both.

You're right.

Names and images are out there or the shooter: Connor Betts. Trump supporter all over his Facebook...just like the guy from yesterday was (only image that guy liked on Twitter was “Trump” spelled out in guns. When will we acknowledge that these young white supremacist kids are the real terrorists and we need leaders who don’t demonize minorities (aka fellow Americans)? I see plenty of y’alls non-sports comments on here. And most of y’all aren’t helping make this country a better and more loving place either.

Well I’d argue that our stability is mostly due to the system of laws and freedoms that we have in place.

We start stripping away at those laws and freedoms, we might not be so stable in the future.

Ever consider that our government doesn’t progress to that point BECAUSE the citizens have guns and wouldn’t stand for it?

Who are these people that live under this constant concern or fear their government will turn on them? What's that like, I wonder?

Governments can turn tyrannical if the conditions are right, which has happened multiple times in history. To ignore history is stupid.

We're free to do practically anything we want to do but somehow, the government is gonna turn right under our noses and slap on the shackles.

Were not free because of the government, but you seem to be arguing from that perspective. Humans are born free, the government only steals freedom, they cannot grant freedom.

The frickin' guy is right. People who go out and buy guns in this day and age to protect themselves from the government are fricking loons.

Have you ever met some of these people? They're all complete fricking weirdos man.

"They're morons" is not an argument.

These kind of actions have been going on since the beginning of time. To think this is something new you’d have to be a fool or living under the ocean.

This is the most prosperous and peaceful time in our nation's history. And at no point in our history has our society been so polite to those who disagree with us. Despite how it's portrayed in the media.

In person.

Online is a totally different beast. Even on places like Facebook where they’re not anonymous.

3 part government. Checks and balances.

Are you questioning if the US is more advanced as a society than some of the other countries?

And can the powers of those 3 branches be altered and changed?

Is $1.3 trillion of student loan a sign of an advanced society? (I'm not arguing for or against)

El Paso: Assault weapon
Dayton: Assault weapon
Gilroy: Assault weapon
Aurora: Assault weapon
Orlando: Assault weapon
Parkland: Assault weapon
Vegas: Assault weapon
Sandy Hook: Assault weapon
Waffle House: Assault weapon
Texas Church: Assault weapon
Tree of Life: Assault weapon

Tell me again why you have to have one? My sensible gun-owner friends don’t need one just like they don’t need a rocket launcher...

Leftists and right wing extremists are both so delusional they don’t see how much they are alike especially in tactics and misleading statements to energize their base. Only one of these makes up a core of a political party and has their similar hate and their violence ignored by media & tech elites.
