Damn...where do you live?
We pay $600.
Minneapolis, and that was an average day care.
How is possible for a daycare to cost only $600!! are you in Alabama?

Not sure if this is allowed in this day and age, but we had our kids in daycare, three days a week. My kids are 17 and 19 now. Lots of good things happening at a good daycare. Early interaction with other kids and adults. And a learning curriculum. Five months is to young, wait till walking.

Maybe she should have thought about the responibility of a child before becomming a shitty mother

Wow. She sounds great. Poor kid.

It's not the money.
Let's look at this more closely. Cost of daycare is not the only money issue.
Will she need a second dependable car? Insurance for a commuter car.
Does she have a work wardrobe? Mommy clothes are one thing; keeping up appearances with other women a work costs a lot more. Likewise shoes. Likewise great haircuts every five weeks.
Eating out at lunch every day. Beginners in the job market seldom can expense their lunches.
The food the family eats and the ingredients. When money gets tight, you won't be getting a sitter and going to wonderful fine dining restaurants for a steak every Friday night. If she can cook, your children will eat what you want them to, not the cheap stuff that day care decides to feed them.
Sickness: Daycare where one child gets sick, they all get sick and some will not let a sick child come there (even if they caught the 'bug' there, so count on losing your vacation days.
Friends she'll make at Mothers' Day Out and neighborhood friends ....are different that work place acquaintances.
Friends who chose to stay home and then to homeschool their children have great relationships with their kids.
One whose eldest went to day care until elementary school just is more interested in his friends than his family; others in that family are family oriented possibly because their day care experiences were limited to half a day.
Good luck with whatever you chose; you or she can change your minds whenever.

our kid had an extreme case of colic and she had no family for help and support.
Dumping your kid in daycare is not going to cure colic. Take him to the doctor or change the diet.

I know a couple stay at home moms and the husbands love it. House is spotless, laundry is perfect, everything is perfect. By the time the husbands get home from work all of the attention goes to the husbands because the kids are tired of dealing with mom all day

Ours was something like $800-900 for a newborn in BR 12 years ago.
We pay $225 per week per child for our 3 year old twins (450/w total). Its ridiculous. I could hire a live-in whore, I mean nanny for that much if I could get my wife behind it.

How can people with 2 or 3 young kids afford day care? you have to make at least 200K a year to afford it.
Lol, you think the baby mamas with 6 kids from different daddies pushing 2 buggies full of name brand stuff pay for their own daycare?

Jealous of all these prices. $2400 a month in NYC

You have a bigger problem than the cost of day care.

What’s best for your baby?

I don't know. On one end, the baby is home all day during winter in MN (can't go outside or go anywhere); on the other end, a daycare can provide a needed social interaction.

You could hire a nanny for less than that.
Or
Your wife could start a pyramid scheme like the rest of the stay at home moms

I wouldn't declare every mom the winner over every daycare.

I paid a Latino lady $8/hr to watch one of hours for 7 hours a day/ 5 days a week for almost 3 years. She was previously a housekeeper at a local hotel and was looking for something less demanding physically. She made about the same as she did working for the hotel.
She wasn’t just a random lady...she was the mother of a guy that worked for me.

My wife went back to work and half her money goes to daycare. She couldn’t handle staying at home. Too social. It was either go back to work or start fricking Jody. She did both
