I know, that’s what I said.
Dave is good for teaching to the lowest common denominator, but his plans and ideas are not good if you aren’t a dumbass.
You know how wealthy people build wealth? Other people’s money, but putting $20 bills in a fricking envelope

That's not too bad. At least you'd be very likely to see the kid become an adult. At 62, if you lived an average life span, you'd be dead when the kid is in high school.

If debtors prison still existed, this dude would think twice before running up his credit cards. And a lot of people would become financially literate really quick.

quote:I used to have an employee who was considering moving to upstate NY "because the govt assistance was better than in Alabama". She was married. She had a biracial child from a previous relationship. Her husband did not work and had two kids from a previous marriage. He kept getting put in jail over not paying child support, and refused to get a job.
Dude lives in Buffalo and wants to move to California. Just seems like a crazy idea given the circumstance.

Typical call:
Caller: Dave! I’m debt Free! I paid off $250,000 in 18 months!
Dave: Congratulations, caller, how did you do it?
C: well, Dave, I worked the program. Paid off the small debts first. Then my wife and I sold both our new cars and bought a ten year old beater. We stopped going out to eat. Gave up Starbucks, and we each got an extra job working from home.
D: great job! That sounds like a good start. How much do you and your wife earn?
C: $115,000 adjusted gross combined.
D: What else did you do? That’s not gonna pay off that kind of debt in 18 months.
C: Well, Dave, my wife had inherited a 3500 sq. ft. condo before we met, and we sold that to cover the remaining $220,000.
D: see folks. You too can get out of debt if you follow my program. Small debt first, drive a beater with no car note, get a second job, and eat beans & rice.

People love to tell this board how good they are with money and how Dave’s advice is bad.
Also I think some people are jealous of the fact that he has become super rich off of basic financial advice.
