Everyone I know thought it was great. I have a diverse group of friends/coworkers that fit at least in one of those groups minus transpeople. They thought it was hilarious. some of them are very snowflakey too on some things.

Critics are gonna critic.

It's an easy target to exercise their anti-free speech platform.

Imagine if "Raw" was released today!

The protests would be glorious to watch ...we'd get to see if there really are " those kinds of cops" in San Fran saying " pull ovah, pull ovah" he should endeavor to offend and slaughter his audience at every available opportunity . They should leave his show completely and utterly devastated .

I would imagine the SJW Mafia wants to END Chappelle for doing that show, and they will go all out to do just that.

Downvoters, frick you. I thought the man was funny grow a set. People have to learn to be able to laugh at themselves and if he offends sometimes, this is America, get over it.

It's fricking hilarious and brilliant. Everything he does centers around going after the culture of being offended, from the title of the special, to starting it with the recitation of Prince's lyrics (seriously, LISTEN to what lyrics he's singing and think about why he used that in the context of what he was about to say), to wearing a military style jumpsuit because he's engaging in a culture war.

Chappelle is one of the most brilliant and intelligent comedians out there. This standup is one of his best works.

Comedy at its core is meant to be touch matters that may be offensive.

Funny as hell, but that's a 22 or so year old Eddie Murphy in 1983. While he was a seasoned comedian, he was still kind of a kid. Many of the bits are just immature. Don't even mean that in a bad way. I lived with that cassette as a teenager. Still play it occasionally now.

Same with Chapelle's Killin Them Softly. That's a master class of comedy, but kind of immature. Dave had been doing comedy for 14 or so years by this point, but he was still under 30. You can feel it in the material. Funny as hell, but from a young man's perspective and it's limited by that.

Sticks and Stones does not suffer from that. Not only is he a master, but he's got nearly 50 years under his belt now. The show was much more mature, and less needy. I imagine that Eddie Murphy would have gotten to that point had he stuck with stand-up. Maybe if he comes back to it, we'll see something similar.
