Our neighbor's daughter was engaged for a while. She has a pretty good job and her parents are well off so her fiance announced he didn't see any reason for him to have a job. That ended the engagement.

Serious talk. Sit them down and tell them you will give them cash for a down payment on a house and will help throw a good party there in lieu of dumping 10's of thousands into a wedding. It has gotten out of control. Buddy just dumped $50k into a wedding. That's insane.
