As a lifelong S LA resident, I will say that the people here are indeed "weird" in the context that our social cultures are very different. It's not the easiest to meet like-minded people but I assume that's like most places outside of the south.

They like beer, hockey, and more beer and a little more hockey
That’s been my interactions outside of work
ETA:
Beer last time I was up there. Sadly the giant middle finger broke. If you were wondering, Liberal Tears is a nice smooth amber beer

My friend George used to live there. He wasn't a fan.

Sometimes things are actually too good to be true

Moved up here last year for a job. It's a nice place to live to start a career and family. Your daughter will have 10x's better opportunities than LA. The comments in this thread are par for the course for a bunch of people who rarely get out of LA and get their opinions from news headlines. Edina is a great place and one of the richer parts of the city. Anyone living in BR or Nola and talking about how dangerous it is here are morons
Thanks! I appreciate the insight from you and many others — I fully understood that I would have to wade through a lot of crap to get to the good stuff.

Lived there for 3 years.
There are parts that are awesome and others that are winter Somalia.
It is the wokest and gayest city I’ve ever lived in. And I can attest from my friends who live there that the schools, within the city at least serve as mini indoctrination camps.
But even in the suburbs my buddy tells me about some of the things that happen in his kids schools and for that reason they are going to homeschool.

This is also true. Never seen so many queers and I lived in the French Quarter for 3 years
That being said, once you get out of the city center it's just like any other rural area. Big trucks, Trump flags, etc. As with most big cities, the closer you get to downtown the woker it gets.
