Plenty of Fish didn't really have many people here at that point when I used an app. So it's entirely possible.
I just know I got the weirdest fricking messages on OKCupid. Tons of swingers, even if you explicitly don't put it on your profile. And a ton of married guys posing as single.

Biggest thing to remember on dating apps is that all of the desirable women are being constantly bombarded with matches and messages, and it is very simple to lose their attention. You are just one of many, so unless you do something to stand out you will just be lost in the shuffle and find yourself in an endless loop of matching but never materializing

I was in your situation when I first got divorced. I wanted to go straight into something stable again and was very frustrated from using the apps. It’s called the paradox of choice. The more choices a person has, the less likely they are to settle on an option and be satisfied. And let’s face it, those apps favor women when it comes to numbers. Also accept that even if you are dating someone, she is getting constantly bombarded by men on social media. Eventually one will get her curiosity. She’s not yours, it’s just your turn. So enjoy what you get and move along.
