I found (I was in my early 30s using a dating app a few years ago) that doing a subscription app tended to net more serious folks if you're not looking to just hook up.
i can certainly see and understand why paid apps might be better. putting up cash for something vs. a free login may demonstrate that a person is "serious" about dating. or maybe not. who knows.

forgive me for prying, but are you and HJJ not still together?
No worries.
We're not. We split a few years back (mutual, going different places/grew apart type deal). He's married now and I just bought a house with my fiance in December so I think we'd both say it's the best decision we've made. We still chat off and on though.

And smart move on not dating coworkers, my ex husband is dating a coworker and I can’t wait to hear how badly that turns out later on....I so hope that blows up in his face
it will, give it time. be patient. the lust will wear off. it always does.

are the 40 year old women shaved these days? or waxed? or neatly trimmed?
serious question
Umm,you bet. And let me say to any age group reading. Never ever pass up someone cute over 40. She (and we honestly) will sincerely go until we're dehydrated.

and as serious question as this can be - looking to meet someone in my 30s. how bat shite crazy are women these days? i'm all for sex, but odds of truly settling down eventually from a dating app? are these women today just throwing it out there if one appears to be stable, have a job, not stalkerish and in decent shape?
Met my wife on a dating app when I was close to 30. I went through a bunch of single moms and psychos. There's some give and take. if a girl doesn't have kids or isn't divorced and is a IRL 8.5/10 get ready cuz she has some serious issues.

In my experience, yes

As crazy as they have always been.

IF you are going the online dating route, you can find anything you want.... casual, serious, weird... State in your profile what you want and someone will message you shortly.

If doing online dating, get used to this. “ My kids are my world”

I'm 44 and have been completely single nearly 3 years.
Most of the ones you'll encounter are still hung up on or bitter about the ex.
Some are still married, but separated and really have no business being "out there" ... at least to me. I want someone that's emotionally available.
It ain't easy boss. Lot's of frustration, and at times seems like you might be wasting your time. Hang in there. It's worth it.
I've met some nice women here and there and we didn't pursue things after a date or 2, and that's ok....
And I've interviewed a few crazies and several more that aren't really ready to be dating but.... if you can keep yourself focused on what you're looking for, you'll be fine.

Did it take the title away from Plenty of Fish? I thought that was the worst one.

My divorced buddy(he's 44) said to just accept that every hot girl on the dating apps is talking to/dating/banging multiple guys. That's the game. He always had 2 or 3 girls in his circle, and assumed the girls in his circle had a few guys in their circle. He said 90% of the girls he met on the apps weren't looking for anything serious, but you can plow through a lot of girls in a short amount of time once you figure out the game. He did that for a couple of years and grew tired of it. He's now engaged to a 61 year old lady he met in a book club.

It's simple. Don't be fat, ugly, and poor

Divorcee, and has been divorced since her late 20's. Not rich, but comfortable. I was shocked when he told me how old she was. She looks at least 10 years younger, and acts younger as well. She's a pothead yoga instructor.
