You're thinking too much about the bigger population

Bribes and money under the table are not between the masses

Couple guys are about to end up in jail for insider trading, their stock was steady at 142 for a month before this news (now at 92), and their board will be forced to clean house.

No one with any say at Equifax would have signed up for this.

LOL for thinking anyone has to be tricked into being monitored.

I think it's gross incompetence but hopefully a good solution comes from this. On their Freeze page Experian talked about some service called credit Locking which sounded a lot like those bank/credit card apps that let you easily turn your account on or off if you think you lost your card.

That might not be a bad solution to the whole problem with identity theft, at least the part of ID theft where they get new accounts in your name. It could kind of be like 2 factor authentication for logging into your iCloud or Google account.

Locked ours with all 3 agencies a year ago. No one can access our credit reports to open new accounts or for credit inquiries of any kind unless I unlock the reports to all 3 agencies. This process is so simple online. You can also unlock the the reports for specific organizations only if you choose this route. Best move I have made for my wife and myself.

Someone tried to open a credit card under my name at Home Depot 6 months ago. A week later I received a letter from Lifelock. Seemed kind of strange.
