This is a huge reason why i give big trucks their space. I’m not pulling over in front of them and if they need to get over, i just back off and let them in.

No need to even chance it. If they hit you, you have a very small chance of survival just because of the weight and force

Holy Crap! This is why I tried to stay away from 18 wheelers but these days it’s impossible.

Yea I deal w these fricking piles of shjit on the reg, and I'd agree with you if they didn't regularly speed, run red lights, frick with people intentionally, and cause massive accidents because they can't ficking read. You can do whatever is in your power to avoid them, but I think waiting in traffic is a reasonable expectation to not fucjking die!

brake early, leave a giant gap between the vehicle in front of me, and watch the rear view mirror if I'm stopped on a highway. It gives you a chance to move out of the way

This.

Traffic stopped briefly on I-49 on the way back from the deer lease Sunday, I changed into the left lane put on my emergency flashers and got halfway into the shoulder all out of sheer precaution until there were several cars stopped behind me.

You are responsible for your own safety re keeping up your situational awareness and defensive driving. Don’t give it up to others, many are complete idiots.

This is why you always leave room in front of you and monitor your rear view mirror while slowing or stopped. I tell my new driver kids, when braking or stopped, the real danger is behind you. Be aware and leave yourself options.

That being said, holy shite. Never expect something like this to happen.

We make the drive between Alexandria and Lake Charles every other week. Way too often, both on I-49 and I-10 (probably a total of a quarter of the trip, so not long), we see young guys going WAY too fast in these trucks. They drive reckless, they think they own the road. They shouldn't be driving these things.

To bad Newscum wasn't in one of the cars demolished. It's his responsibility and needed to pay the price.

To the first responders that have to see what they see when arriving on scenes like this. They couldn't pay me any amount of money to do what they do. The carnage . Much respect to all of them.

I had a guy tell me he was once a firefighter in S.Cal for 17 and a half years, one day he saw another dead child and it put him over the edge. Walked away and couldnt return.
