I agree with that assessment of prophets of doom.

I also enjoyed Armageddon for the same reason, I knew next to nothing about wwi

Kind of a coincidence but I really want him to do one about the French Revolution and Napoleon. That whole war. Oooo he could do a whole series on Britain and France's naval conflict

Never listened to these yet since they're behind the paywall. I'll buy them one day. He's worth a buck a show as they say.

I have loved everything leading up to Painfotainment, but I really did not enjoy it. There was too much of Carlin trying to ask the listener how we would react today. There was just too much philosophy in it. It was likely due to it being about a type of event throughout history rather than one event or country.

I enjoyed some of the awful stories about what people used to do.

I went on his website and paid for all of them.

Well worth it in my eyes. I, too, drive a lot and being able to occupy 2+ hours at a time of continuous conversation that is not sports or politics is entertaining

If you want something funny and change of pace, I highly recommend Phil Hendrie.

Me too.
That period fascinates me. All of France was at war and had a stake in the struggle. It truly ended the era of the professional soldier.

I'd love to listen to one about the Napoleonic Wars/French Rev. Also like to hear ones about the 100 Years War and War of the Roses.

I want to hear about Huey Long and I want to know more about the German people that sacked Rome and scared the shite out of the celts and franks. These oft rumored fierce giants that not even Rome could tame

What's the best ones that involve Greece? I ironically just started King of Kings 3 today as my first one as it had the most mentions of Greece in the description.

Honestly not that many. I’d love for him to do one on Greece prior to Alexander

My favorite book series is the Hornblower series by C.S. Forester. Its historical fiction that covers a British naval officers career. Mostly out of print now I think but pretty entertaining

I was thinking I was the only one here who thought it was good. The part about the executioners being their own little sect of society was fascinating.

Has Carlin produced a podcast on the crusades? I read Bearing False Witness and now I’m really intrigued with the crusades.
