Unless you believe officers of the law can violate the 4th amendment.

People like you make me lose hope that there will ever be real accountability towards negligent officers who shouldn't have been officers in the first place.
quote:Not disagreeing with that. However, if we go down that road then there’s someone else who should be on trial here as well - whomever was responsible for her being an officer.

If walking into the wrong apartment and killing someone isn’t negligent, then what the hell is?

She did knowingly open that door with her gun with the intent to kill the threat. She should have reasonable known before opening the door that she was not entering her own apartment. That, to me, is negligent.

Certainly negligent. But was it murder? She didn’t set out with the intention of murdering her neighbor that evening, I don’t think.

Well, that’s your opinion. I on the other hand see how easy it would be to accidentally walk into the wrong apartment in a complex such as this - even the man’s neighbor, a witness for the prosecution, admitted that it had happened to him before.

Only thing in my head is if an officer opens my door and demands hands, I'm complying and dealing with the aftermath alive. How did Jean know the officer didn't have a lawful reason for being at his door?
One thing that stood out to me was that she never once claimed that she identified herself as an officer.

So you, the chick cop, and the neighbor are all fricking morons.

Are you really arguing for her to get off scot free?

I don’t think he’s pulled out his gun to shoot somebody relaxing in his home and then proceeded to not administer CPR despite being fully capable.

I never said she should be convicted of murder. I said she should be convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

I’ve had someone walk in my apartment too, but they walk in a get confused. If you heard someone in the apartment beforehand, then you would likely think to check the apartment number before barging in with a gun.

you see those are normal mistakes
you're missing a big piece of the puzzle
you forgot to add "and then shot and killed somebody who was legally present and innocent"
