I moved to Dallas from New Orleans after Katrina & didn’t like it my first year here as it was such a culture shock.I love it now. Take some time & explore. Yes, there are douchebags here but they are everywhere. There is so much going on here that it is ridiculous. You will adjust over time.

Yep moving here from NOLA is a huge culture shock for sure

Ehh, that doesn’t sound bad to me

This is gonna be a problem for the western world and values. Western ways will pass away because people refuse to have kids and those who do have their two kids and that’s it.

Meanwhile Asians and Muslims are popping out 4-5 a couple at minimum. The western world better catch up, lest they be erased to the dustbins of history.

Yeah the anti New Orleans threads have become kinda pathetic.

My wife keeps asking to go somewhere and do stuff since we moved here. I have to keep reminding her, this Dallas. There is nothing to just do. You have to know what place you want to go to and it’s either dinner or some bland corporate bar. That’s why the only thing people do here is work out.

This has to be a troll. Your wife (if actually married) sounds like a moron, too.

I’ll give you losers some advice.

1) Tons of museums.
Dallas Museum of Art
Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Kimball Art Museum
Nasher Sculpture Gardens
Frontiers of Flight Museum
And many more.
2) Tons of concerts. Anyone that tours comes through the metroplex. Open your eyes.
3) Tons of great restaurants. You name it…DFW has it.
4) Tons of fantastic local/regional lakes
Lewisville Lake
Lake Texoma
Possum Kingdom
Ray Hubbard
5) Festivals
Grapefest in Grapevine
Main Street Fest Grapevine
Main Street Arts Festival Fort Worth
Art in Square Southlake
Big Texas Beer Festival
Kaboom Town Addison
Plano Balloon Festival

More stuff:
Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade
State Fair of Texas
Christmas in Grapevine
Golf everywhere
Good Guys Car Show at Texas Motor Speedway
Any kind of sports….football, basketball, hockey, baseball.
Fort Worth Stockyards

And world class shopping!

Where are these major US cities with “culture”? And specifically, culture that you want to be immersed in?

Also, is San Antonio good?

F. No.
Take all of the bad of Houston and Austin, remove any real trees, and remove all decent sized corporations other than USAA and the United States Army. I'm talking about the city, not all the places that are 30+ miles away from the city that may be decent like New Braunfels. It's kinda like New Orleans, always talking about a culture that's holding most of the natives back.

I like the River Walk and some of the area restaurants but otherwise I’m not a fan of the city. But a day trip to the River Walk can be quite fun.

What part of town do you live in? From your description I'm predicting Carrollton.

We need more OTers moving to other major metros so we can have these hate fests by opposing posters.

Who is volunteering?

We need:
Orlando
Salt lake
Milwaukee
Portland

Just to start
