Absolutely. If your SO's fricking someone else, you dump him/her. But if they're cheating on you financially, well, the money is gone--and if you're in your 50s or 60s, you're fricked, especially if you're talking retirement money or money for your kid to go to college.

If your 39 year old wife blows a decade and a half of savings and saddles you with debt, you could be starting over at 40ish with half of nothing. That effects when you retire, where your kids can go to college, etc. You can't get that time back.
If she was financially responsible, but she banged her boss; at least you won't be broke when you dump her.

If by financial infidelity you mean something like your significant other running up lots of credit card debt in both of your names, I don't necessarily think one is objectively worse than the other. Both are betrayals. Sexual infidelity is certainly more of an emotional betrayal. It would hurt more. But the financial betrayal might have more practical consequences.

Not necessarily. While sexual is more of an emotional betrayal and would hurt far more than financial, it is also much more a betrayal of trust. In divorce, skimming/stealing can be used in court, whereas sexual infidelity doesn't have a bearing in court.
While both are betrayals, your spouse fricking someone else would have far longer-lasting emotional affects than the other, and emotional problems can and do lead to physical ones.
My wife had an emotional affair, and that shite tore me up. And it still bothers me now - and that was just an emotional one. A physical affair would be an instant boot. Imagine the love of your life - one who swore to forsake all others, and one that you put your complete love and trust in, was fricking someone else? Imagine coming home to them and kissing someone who was sucking someone else? Now tell me that wouldn't bother you more than financial.
