Anyone branch out of the standard diploma frames and get something customized?

I have a friend who had a custom framing done at Michael's/hobby lobby that includes the diploma + a nice photo of a memorable part of campus or something similar. I thought it looked nice and I'm looking to do something similar.

Anyone want to share anything unique they did with their diploma(s)?

Don’t use hobby lobby and Goto a legit custom framer.

I'm surprised Devry didn't provide one.

I graduated from the Virginia College in the Cortana mall. They provided a frame for my degree.

My mom got mine framed but I couldn't tell you where it is. Hopefully in my attic because I haven't seen it in years

Assuming better quality materials or is it just the craftmanship that's better? There's a couple around where I am that have been recommended.

Also I realize by posting on the OT, I'm shooting for a ratio of 1 legit comment to 15 quips.

Better craftsmanship from a person who most likely owns the framing business and not a $10/hr employee at a big box store.

To do what with? Mine are in floating frames under a desk in our sunroom. Hanging them, unless you have a man cave office in your house, is a bit strange.

Put all 3 of them them in a box, hiding somewhere unknown in the house unframed... nobody is impressed by a freaking diploma... people assume you have a career by going to colleges, no need to flash it in someone’s face. Obnoxious if you ask me, especially if you hang it in your own home

They make something like that already. They aren't cheap but I guess it looks better than just a plain matting. Mine has been in the leather folder they give it to you in for over a decade.

I custom framed mine by leaving them in the FedEx envelopes they shipped in.

Eta: yeah.....

Yeah I saw those. Thought about getting something like that for my LSU degree.

But I have another piece of paper from another institution that doesn't really have the mass made diploma frames like those, so will likely have to do something custom for it. Just wanted to see if the OT had anything out there.

Gotcha, hobby lobby can probably do one that looks exactly like that for your school. I have had them mat and frame concert posters with the ticket stubs below the poster and they did a great job. Must be a really small school. I even found one of those for Louisiana College.

I got lucky with my LA CPA at Hobby Lobby. Some person got all the bells and whistles for their CPA certificate... and didn't end up actually getting the CPA. Since it's such a weird size, they couldn't give it to anyone else, so I got it insanely cheap.
