I haven't seen where these have gained popularity, but I may be living under a rock i'm not sure.

The curve seems to be going the wrong way to me. They will not take off. Nobody recommends them. Then again, it's always good advice to ignore my advice.

The new thing is 8k. I was at CES and no one was trying to promote a curved TV, but 8k TVs were everywhere.

Curved TVs are fantastic if you’re sitting in the exact place that is required for optimal picture. But to have people over and watch a game, a curved tv is terrible.

To put it simply, it’s impractical as hell.

Wait for the 8ks to come out and 4ks will be dirt cheap.

CES is a blast. Back in the day you could buy the stuff they were showing cheap because they didn't want to ship it home.

I had one for years back in the 90's. Quality sucks but dependability is through the roof.

Well, 4Ks are already dirt cheap. We are just beginning to get shreds of 4k content. Waiting for 8K makes little sense for anyone unless they will only have the money to buy one new TV in the next 15 years. MAYBE if someone was thinking about a $25K plus projector or one of the $5k plus panels they might want to buy cheaper now and wait to see how the content area settles.

The vast majority of people sit too far from their display to even get close to fully resolving 4K much less 8K, it is really all the other qualities that impact the quality of the picture. Even at 10ft from a 120" WIDE PJ screen the difference between 1080 and 4K is rather minimal compared to a number of other metrics.

To the OP, curved screens are useful in a limited number of situations, for a family room TV flat is a better choice.

I’m here from the future to tell you they 8k is obsolete. 16k is where it’s at. Wait for 16ks to come out.

You think you’re cute with that comment. But CES is the future. So I’ve actually been there.

Of course one day 8k will be obsolete. But the point is I as a mere mortal have seen the next step from 4K. It exists.

Sorry you don’t have access to CES. Trust me, you’re missing out.
